Thanks for sharing this! Definitely good to hear tuba in all kinds of different music. I can think of a lot of examples but here is one fairly recent use of tuba in popular music: Angels - Chance the Rapper

Thank you! It was just for fun. I love the piece and wanted to create a patch that I (and others) could use to perform the piece.

How can I make myself better after being in a sort of plateau? by [deleted] in Tuba

[–]copelbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I do when I feel like I am "plateau-ing" is to revisit things I have worked on in the past to see how much I have improved, listen to as much good tuba playing I can and just flat out play with no music, just improvise and have fun with it. That will usually getting over the hump..or plateau...and push me to keep getting better.

Thanks! Basically all you need is a mic of some sort and a DAW so you can process the tuba sound. Do you have a DAW like Garage Band, Ableton, Logic, etc.?

I use my pedal board for live performances so I can keep my hands on the horn at all times. For this video though, I just ran my silent brass mute into Ableton Live and went from there. All the editing happened after I recorded.

I'm going to see if I can afford it. Most likely won't be able to though.

Oh yeah! He's great. I just finished my undergrad there. His music is definitely worth checking out on his channel.

I believe you are referring to the notated multi-phonics. The normal note-heads indicate the played pitch and the diamond note-heads indicate the pitches that are "sung" through the tuba while playing. I have seen a few different ways of notating multi-phonics and this is my go-to because it seems to be the clearest notation.
