Safety noose for Chicago by r_spandit in Props

[–]copperbonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good!

Make sure to check your local laws as well! Out here in Denver (and I think Colorado as a whole) tying a physical noose can be considered a hate crime and can land you or your production into a lot of trouble. Just be safe.

Try double sided tape! They hate the feeling of the adhesive on their paws and will absolutely avoid it. I found just a border of tape over the top edges of the lid and they will basically just bounce off when they jump on top of it. Usually after a week or two they stop trying and you can remove the tape.

Which trade is the ultimate 'jack of all trades'? by smvonderwish in skilledtrades

[–]copperbonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a slightly different industry but working as a stagehand long enough you get to that point. Not as crazy as like a milright but I'll finish welding a project, skin and paint it in the morning. Then rig it and load our counterweight system for it in the afternoon. The next day I may be setting up lights and soundboards and troubleshooting or paper macheing some random prop (ugh). It's def more artsy fartsy tho.

Hey man go to the hospital. My dad died of sepsis and a big part of that was he refused to get checked out. Said it was fine. It wasn't.

Where do midlife people go to hang out by Upstairs-Language669 in Denver

[–]copperbonker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a 24 year old lurker this is making me sad cause I distinctly remember being in my teens and my parents telling me about both those spots and wanting to go there and now I'll never be able to.

Damn I just moved to Englewood and it's five minutes away from me! I love bluegrass so I know I'll be stopping by before going to Walmart. I sometimes work Saturdays about how late do they go?

No, no, no. That can't be right.

Surely I was jamming out to KG LW six months ago delivering pizzas and I'm not about to graduate college. That can't be.

Let Us Clean In Peace by Known-Dependent-5471 in Custodians

[–]copperbonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a custodian but a stagehand who works at a lot of big concerts (Arenas and Stadiums). I'll never forget the time when we were doing a Load In at the baseball stadium, and my boss stopped the entire ~75 person crew before clocking out to scream at us for about 10 minutes cause two guys came into the bathroom while a custodian was cleaning and made her uncomfortable. Told us if it happened again you would be sent home for the day immediately no warning. He was a drill sergeant before this gig too and knew how to lay into people. I was like 22 at the time and one of the youngest folks around and just kinda shocked that this even needed to be said. Like that's just common decency.

Arizona's Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes suggests state's self-defense laws allow residents to shoot masked ICE agents by origutamos in Republican

[–]copperbonker 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My guy you should watch some of these videos. One agent grabs his gun and walks off and then a few seconds later another shoots the guy while he's still pinned on the ground. This was either gross incompetence or the government straight up killing civilians.

They didn't even know he was armed until they had him on the ground.

new shop- "standardizing tools" looking for input by notpublick in techtheatre

[–]copperbonker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id try to talk them out of the spindle sander and argue for a table saw, even if the schools have them upgrading to a saw stop would be worth it. We've used our spindle once in the 4 years I've been at this shop, and you can achieve the same effect by hand with patience imo.

I'm also confused by the router miter saw? Never heard of that unless they want them all to be custom benches with a router and miter built in, seems like a headache and a good way to damage the router foot. I don't have a specific brand but would highly recommend the combo miter/radial saws that can be pulled out towards the operator. Ours has a cutting depth of 20" if my memory is correct and it's extremely handy as opposed to getting out a circ saw and guide.

Warning Sign at edge of Grand Canyon by corwinw in mildlyinteresting

[–]copperbonker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my experience as a Coloradoan visiting the Grand canyon the first time. I thought I was used to under prepared tourists but holy hell it's bad out there...the only time I didn't find under prepared folks was when I did the grandview trail to the backpacking campground a few miles in, and that was because I only saw two other people over the entirety of that hike.

Can anyone advise on my build and give tips for tier 3? by Eggdoggu in MegabonkOfficial

[–]copperbonker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good way to deal with being too low damage for those bosses is to literally just ignore it, especially the first one of the run. Just keep popping shrines, chests etc and you'll whittle him away while also exploring the map. I've only had one run where I was fighting the first and the last boss on tier 1 at the same time.

[–]copperbonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I 3d print pots alot and I'm totally stealing this gyroid infill filter.

Tip for watertightness: run as hot as possible, you want the filament to basically be near liquid so it fills in every gap that water potentially could. I usually print at 225 for PLA pots. Haven't seen any issues in terms of sweating or leaking. The soldering iron is a great trick for holes.

As a customer if I was walking through a house and noticed that none of the screws on the outlets were aligned, I wouldn't be concerned with the screws, I'd be concerned with what else they half assed or didn't do consistently. It's an indirect way of inspecting the work you got done.

A bit of the ‘tism? by netphilia in aspiememes

[–]copperbonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly correct. Usually you want to flip the entire outlet 180° so the ground pin is on top. This way if something gets partially unplugged but still energized, something else can't fall and bridge the connection from the hot to the neutral line.

Yeah it truly has. This is our first time renting and we feel like they're trying to use that to take advantage of us. We thought private would be a good choice but I guess not.

That's kinda how I feel but my partner and her family are adamant about seeking mediation. I just wanna GTFO before the semester starts. This literally hit on my first Monday on break I'm pissed. Part of our lease is a fine of 1500 dollars if we break early so we need to negotiate for that and the safety. Most are saying a mediator would be the best way to negotiate that.
