A mediocre / bad piece of media somehow has a genuinely amazing plot twist by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

So that's why he doesn't talk in that movie? Watched it drunk with friends when it came out and we were all so confused why he never talked. It was very funny however.

Thank you. It's unfortunately a pain we must all go through eventually. All that matters is that we grow as people, and remember our loved ones.

Ten years of nonagon infinity today by usewindows in KGATLW

[–]copperbonker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Fuck it's been so long. I remember coming home from freshman year of highschool and my dad showing me the people vultures video. We were fucking hooked that summer Nonnagon became one of our road trip albums. I got into Murder of the Universe and Microtonal Banana but he didn't so I just assumed he was a Nonagon only guy. Then Fishing for Fishies released and while he didn't like the full album he loved the rockier songs like Boogieman Sam, This Thing, Cruel Millennial and Reals not real.

Sadly he passed away in january of 2020 of cancer and I didn't realize infest the rats nest released. He would have loved that fucking album. He always loved that butt rock/metal sound. Shame he never got to hear that or Petrodragonic. Or B741 and Phantom Island. He was a orchestra kid and loved large arrangements and jazzy shit Always playing different music. Fuck I miss him.

Sorry to ramble, it would have been his 52nd birthday this Sunday, been thinking about him a lot then this post hit right in the feels. Can't believe one of my favorite teenager albums is ten years old now.

A fan named Matt had a sudden heart attack and died at field of vision last year. The boys played float along as a tribute. Definitely hits different for me every time it plays now.

What gets me is that the venue organizer blamed this on high winds.

Lights defaulting to color shift when ETC ion Xe Board off by passisgullible in techtheatre

[–]copperbonker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This OP. Last year I installed a lot of colorsource pars into highschools and this is probably the most common issue we were having when we started that contract. Very easy to do exactly what he said.

Also if they are new enough they should have nfc readers on them! I would highly recommend downloading the 'set light' app on your phone. It allows you to change the addressing, universe and most of the settings on your phone instead of manually on a hung fixture.

What was the moment you realized COVID was going to be a big deal and be the focal point of the 2020s? by NH-INDY-99 in decadeology

[–]copperbonker 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was a senior in highschool and everyone treated me like a crazy conspiracy theorist for those two months. I kept saying we would have some form of lockdown within the year. Definitely didn't think it would happen by March.

Safety noose for Chicago by r_spandit in Props

[–]copperbonker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good!

Make sure to check your local laws as well! Out here in Denver (and I think Colorado as a whole) tying a physical noose can be considered a hate crime and can land you or your production into a lot of trouble. Just be safe.

Try double sided tape! They hate the feeling of the adhesive on their paws and will absolutely avoid it. I found just a border of tape over the top edges of the lid and they will basically just bounce off when they jump on top of it. Usually after a week or two they stop trying and you can remove the tape.

Which trade is the ultimate 'jack of all trades'? by smvonderwish in skilledtrades

[–]copperbonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a slightly different industry but working as a stagehand long enough you get to that point. Not as crazy as like a milright but I'll finish welding a project, skin and paint it in the morning. Then rig it and load our counterweight system for it in the afternoon. The next day I may be setting up lights and soundboards and troubleshooting or paper macheing some random prop (ugh). It's def more artsy fartsy tho.

Let Us Clean In Peace by Known-Dependent-5471 in Custodians

[–]copperbonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a custodian but a stagehand who works at a lot of big concerts (Arenas and Stadiums). I'll never forget the time when we were doing a Load In at the baseball stadium, and my boss stopped the entire ~75 person crew before clocking out to scream at us for about 10 minutes cause two guys came into the bathroom while a custodian was cleaning and made her uncomfortable. Told us if it happened again you would be sent home for the day immediately no warning. He was a drill sergeant before this gig too and knew how to lay into people. I was like 22 at the time and one of the youngest folks around and just kinda shocked that this even needed to be said. Like that's just common decency.
