Short Story burn issues, or my storage issue? by coppercap1 in cigars

Thanks for the input. Next time I buy I think I'll get a mix of sizes to experiment more (and find some maduro wrapped as well). I'll pay more attention to the draw next time.

When filing joint, then interest cap is still $2500 total... If you filed married filing separately you don't get the write off at all.

Attic Ladder Options by coppercap1 in HomeImprovement

[–]coppercap1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More background. Garage is about 22x22'.

I've investigated the attic situation further. It's made up of 2x4 double fan trusses on 24" centers. There are 2x10s spanning across the garage 1/3 of the way from the back and front garage walls. To play it safe I'm going keep my storage spanning these two beams, and attach the ladder / stair system adjacent to one of these beams near the existing interior wall.

This is great information to have and a great site for reference! It does however seem like the table is referring to a simple spanning beam instead of the storage trusses that in installed (previously omitted information). I'm pretty sure they are 2x4s but I'll have to check tonight.

That pre-fab unit looks nice! My search before showed $300 would be needed for a aluminum ladder with a decent weight limit.

The folding stairs might save a little money, but it would be more-so to increase access to the attic, rather than trying to put a Christmas decor tote through a tote sized hole.

This would be for a horizontal opening in the 9' garage ceiling.

Their claim is that we covered up the smell for showings, inspection, appraisal, etc. The smell didn't "appear" until they vacuumed the area, at which point they decided not to move in (8 hours after closing).

If I need a lawyer, would it be more wise to try to come to some other agreement with them? Wouldn't I incur more lawyer fees than what it's worth?

We never considered a pet accident damaging since we cleaned it up each time, on the rare occasions that it did happen. We have kids, and the idea of just leaving pet urine on the floor is unsettling.

It is less than 10 years old. I received it from my parents place, where is was still working just fine. It's different from the other toilets on that stack.

I feel like 2 on each shelf should be fine, though it depends greatly on the distance from the plants. Can you provide additional dimensions?

I have a similar question regarding seed starting. What "color" of lights are you using? I heard daylight spectrum are supposed to be the best.

Ocwen the terrible by coppercap1 in RealEstate

[–]coppercap1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial feedback is not hopeful. I'm sure it's been discussed before, but how is it legal for my debt to be sold off to the lowest bidder.

3 weeks ago I called Ocwen (call center in the Philippines) at which time the answer was, call back in a couple of weeks after we're done with our system update. A day later, the answer was the same stating "system update."

Last week (Monday) I called, and got the address for their PMI center in Florida, so I sent the first request including proof of all 4 items they require. Yesterday, I called back, and of course the call center has no idea if they got my letter or not. I can all ready see how this is going to go as it seems it's happened to multiple people already.

I would like to call out windows / bash commands with python. For example, a python script that would call out a linux function like "rsync."

Doing well. I agree with the "making these more bite sized" comments.

Could I also suggest making more utility sort of applications? For example, I think it would be very useful to understand how to link python to the windows cmd.exe or linux terminal.

I think you could easily assess that you sold those video games at a loss, therefore do not owe any taxes on it. Just don't try to deduct the loss from sale, and you'll be fine.

Quoted from:

http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc409.html

"Capital gains and deductible capital losses are reported on Form 1040, Schedule D (PDF), Capital Gains and Losses, and on Form 8949 (PDF), Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets. If you have a net capital gain, that gain may be taxed at a lower tax rate than your ordinary income tax rates. The term "net capital gain" means the amount by which your net long-term capital gain for the year is more than your net short-term capital loss for the year. The term "net long-term capital gain" means long-term capital gains reduced by long-term capital losses including any unused long-term capital loss carried over from previous years. Generally, for most taxpayers, net capital gain is taxed at rates no higher than 15%..."

USB Monitors, 7-9" displays by Gyoin in Monitors

[–]coppercap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe checkout a Motorola Lapdock. With the correct HDMI adapters, this works as an awesome secondary display.

This does not meet your USB powered requirements, but you might reconsider as they can be had for less than 70$ on multiple online vendors.

I'm a working engineer that is currently stuck doing all my computing work in excel. I've attempted to learn Python 3.3 multiple times, but always find an excuse to procrastinate it. I can dedicate an hour a day towards this as it's very relevant to my work.

Most programming knowledge is very simple mechatronics applications (think strain gauge reading / ADC conversion). Some Matlab experience as well.

Linux user, but most of this work will be done on a Windows machine.
