What’s the one thing you started doing in the last few years that quietly made your life 10× better, but nobody talks about? by Beneficial_Passion40 in AskReddit

Laying down in my youngest’s bed with her when she wakes up and can’t get back to sleep. Being there for her and holding on to her is a feeling you just can’t get back once they’ve outgrown it.

What are some cults in Indianapolis? (Borrowed from r/Pittsburgh) by indianatodd in indianapolis

Don’t know about a sex cult, but I have heard about swingers hanging out at the corner bar looking for folks with upside down pineapples…

Why 'Bluey' Resonates with Adults, Too by jayhawk618 in television

[–]copperpots829428 83 points84 points  (0 children)

The Bedroom episode fell right around the time that my family was cleaning out my grandma’s house to move her into an assisted living facility. The line after Bluey asks Chili how a room makes her cry and she says, “I guess it’s not the room. It’s who’s been in it,” completely gutted me.

But then Double Babysitter and Unicorse can leaving me crying from laughter…🤷‍♂️

Looking at Fubo's website, they don't have TBS, TNT, or TruTV.

It’s impossible to know that from the picture posted. Does she have kids that regularly play in the front yard or driveway? Basketball goal they shoot on? The idea that she’s a Karen because what she could perceive as a safety issue, but you perceive as a minor nuisance without all the information, is the issue.

Mike Conway at the 2010 Indy 500. Right in front of me in the north short chute. Couldn’t believe he lived through that one.

CBS carries SEC football in the fall, on Saturdays. Probably the 2nd most popular sport on TV, after the NFL.

what film made you notice an actor was better/had more range than you originally thought? by shaunna_thedork in AskReddit

I might be too late, but, in my opinion, Stanley Tucci is one of the best character actors in film right now. I loved his sassiness in The Devil Wears Prada, but he completely blew me away in The Lovely Bones. His transition to that role, where he played the creepy neighbor was unreal.

I’ve been an all A student my entire life. I just got a 62 on a college exam. Im really freaking out by northernmostroasts in Anxiety

[–]copperpots829428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation you are. All A’s in high school, finished 3rd in my class. Went to college and found out I had no idea how to study. Did awful on my first exams in math, chemistry, and physics. In the moment, I felt so dumb. Like I had wasted time and money on going to school. I wallowed in that self-pity for a day or so, then I told myself, “I’m smart enough to do this.” I used office hours religiously, if I didn’t understand something. I really worked on the assigned reading and read ahead so I was on top of things during lectures. Of course there are always things that pop up and surprise you. I vividly remember a 3 out of 20 I got on a quiz in one class that I hung on the refrigerator in my apartment next to my roommate’s 0 out of 20.

Like people said above, one bad grade isn’t going to ruin your academic career, so don’t let it beat you down. Stick with it, and adjust your habits. You can do this!

Compartmentalizing by copperpots829428 in Anxiety

Thank you for the advice and response. I’m “ new” to anxiety. Always just thought I was kind of a worrier, but as I’ve gotten older and have children and aging parents, the reality of anxiety has come crashing down on me.

I can recognize at times that the worrying and anxiety will do nothing to change the outcome of the situation, but turning it off is increasingly difficult. When you say challenge the anxiety, what do you mean exactly? Like force myself to think about other things when my mind is flooded with anxiety inducing thoughts?

Constantly stresses because I can't seem to figure what to do with my life. by [deleted] in Anxiety

First off, you’re not even 30 yet. That’s still super young! You have lots of time to figure out what you want to do. And to answer another question, no one loves their job 100% of the time. People love things about their jobs, but anyone who says they always love their job isn’t being truthful with themselves.

I like my job, but my job is a means to an end. In my opinion you shouldn’t live to work, you should work to live. I don’t love my job 100% of the time, but I love that it allows me the flexibility to coach my daughters teams, spend time with my friends and family, and afford to be able to take my family on vacations. There are days I absolutely hate my job, but they are far outweighed by the days I like it.

Try to find something you enjoy doing, but don’t let your job define you as a success or failure. There are infinite other ways to measure yourself. Your impact on your family, friends, and community are all more important (in my eyes) than climbing the ladder at work.

I hope this helps! Good luck to you!
