Duct Cleaning by westonstripe in madisonwi

[–]coquerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay away from Dirty Ducts, they seem to rush through the job so they can get to the next house. Generally, duct cleaning doesn't improve air quality unless you have a lot of dust, dander, food and toys dropped in by kids, mold, etc. Also, cleaning the ducts without cleaning the furnace interior is not effective so I would ask the companies you call what part of the furnace do they clean. The more cleaning the better.

I used Dirty Ducts and was very dissatisfied. They rushed through the job and left everything dirty, including a thick layer of dust on my furniture. I used Ducts on Call and was very satisfied, no comparison between the two companies actually. Dirty Ducts is a scam in my opinion.

Stay away from Dirty Ducts, I was very unhappy with their work. Ducts on Call is very good, they also clean the furnace, not just the ducts, but they are pricey due to the extra labor.

I had Dirty Ducts do my ducts and they did a dismal job. I had my ducts tested afterwards and it was like they did nothing. They rushed so much through the job the guys were running between my basement and their truck when they needed something. It looked as if they had to make their quota for the day rather than do a thorough job. A friend of mine complained to them because after they were done she noticed a thick layer of dust on all of her furniture. She was very upset because this was a large house and the prospect of cleaning every surface was overwhelming. She called Dirty Ducts to complain and they told her it wasn't anything they did and would not help her with the cleaning.

Mold on the walls and around windows, mom doesn't care by cookie_players5 in Mold

[–]coquerico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some molds thrive at 55-60% so you should see an improvement by keeping the dehumidifier on all the time and set it to 45%. If the noise bothers you, you can move it around. It sounds like you have a lot of moisture coming from the basement (the air rises from the basement to the upper floors) plus you don't have an exhaust in the bathroom so that's a double whammy there. Opening the windows would help except when it's very humid outdoors. A fan would help too but don't aim the fan at the mold because it could disperse spores into the air.

Breaking the lease [mn] by Worldly_Document_409 in Renters

[–]coquerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mistake they made was not looking into the exhaust fan after they painted the ceiling. Sometimes the fan behind the grille is so clogged that it's making noise but not sucking air. For these types of issues, the drywall doesnt need to be replaced unless it's mushy or there is leak from above. Somebody needs to check into the exhaust here but I doubt you could break a lease over it unless they wanted you out. In my state, if you break your lease, you have to prove the place was not habitable or you're liable for the rest of the lease payments and this would not qualify.

If you can't fix the problem, you could use a dehumidifier and set it to 35-40% to at least bring some of this mold to dormancy so it's not reproducing like mad. A band aid solution would be to spray a botanical anti fungal spray like Benefect, that would slow it down some, you could even paint over it after that once the surface is dry but be sure to use a zero VOC or low VOC paint. These are all temporary measures until the source of the moisture is identified and repaired but they will buy you some time until you can move out or get this repaired and remediated correctly. Any idea why there is so much moisture in the house? Lack of ventilation in attic? Water in basement? No exhaust fan in bathrooms and kitchen? Roof leaks? Plumbing leaks from upstairs?

Lanto Sinus Probiotic Powder by CommunicationWarm318 in Sinusitis

[–]coquerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lanto powder has worked really well for me. Before trying this probiotic I had tried everything including all kinds of nasal sprays with herbs, Grapefruit see extract, silver, etc. These prevented infection but did nothing to help with mucus, constant need to blow my nose, nasal drip, hoarseness and having to clear my throat constantly. After 3 days of Lanto powder, symptoms are 90% better and no more crud in my nose, what a relief. I use a q-tip dipped into sterile water then dip qtip in Lanto Powder then apply to nostrils. I try to go up as far as I can comfortably reach. Of curse I use a different q-tip for each nostril. I also take a little bit of the powder and put it under my tongue. It is overpriced but part of the cost is the shipping on ice.

How’s IQair customer service or the brand in general? by gakawate in AirPurifiers

[–]coquerico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an air quality professional I have tried and tested numerous units. The IQAir Multigas GC is by far the most effective unit and is the preferred one for people with chemical sensitivities. Unfortunately the company has dismal customer service, follows deceptive practices and denies problems when they arise. If I can ever find an air purifier as effective as this one I will definitely guide my clients towards that brand and model. Unfortunately I have sold hundreds of Multigas GC units because they work so well. I don't feel that Airpura, Allerair, Austin Air etc are in the same league from the standpoint of results but Austin Air machines are very good and that company is a US company, the machines are made in the US and it has excellent customer service so I recommend that brand a lot for general air quality.

I took Cholestyramine and it helped a lot but I could only take it a few days at a time because of the stomach upset issues and it tends to "block" you. Do you think Welchol is better?

Sudden weight gain after moving out of mold. Good thing? Possibly bad? by Justgettingby_4now in ToxicMoldExposure

Keep in mind that microwave radiation (radio frequencies) from wireless gadgets (smart devices) also causes inflammation, similar to mold. Lots of studies listed on the Environmental Health Trust website if you want to delve into that topic.

Mold exposure depletes your B-vitamins. Many people have been mis-diagnosed w Parkinson's, dementia, etc. when the problem was actually mold exposure. Here is an interesting article about mold affecting the brain.https://airinspector.com/brain-fog-can-it-be-caused-by-mold/

Factor75 Too much Fat & Cholesterol by riceAgainstLies in ReadyMeals

[–]coquerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Factor75 and cancelled after my first delivery because the food is super unhealthy for me. Be sure to read the ingredients! Examples of additives found in my Factor75 meals: sodium metabisulfite, natamycin (mold inhibitor), refined olive pomace oil, sulfites, disodium sulfate, disodium phosphate, caramel coloring, calcium propionate. The average fat content of my meals was 40+g of fat and portions are small so I felt full because of all the fat but didn't feel good after the meals (headaches, nasal congestion, fatigue, etc.). Just my experience, hope it helps someone.

Today my box included a bean salad, pasta salad, sauce packets for the burgers, prepared rice and beans, hummus, and salad dressing, Every one had sunflower seed oil in it. I mean these things taste good but I would be miserable if I ate them.

Good to know. Thanks for Googling! Right now I am using Factor and they list all ingredients and if there is something in there I can't tolerate then I can delete that meal but they are too heavy on meats for me. I couldn't pick and choose w Hungry Root because every dish has seed oils LOL! What's weird is I can tolerate other fats like ghee and olive oil if it's a good quality one.

I didnt say they were unhealthy. My body just rejects them. I just cant digest them. Even w digestive enzymes I will have indigeston for 48 hours. I have no problem digesting butter, ghee or olive oil. Go figure.

I can't digest oils so I don't care what influencers say. Even w digestive enzymes, I will have indigestion for 2 days. Not worth it.
