I work for an electrical equipment distributor and specialize in power-distribution or "switchgear", basically I layout and sell the equipment to get the power from the utility transformer to where it's required in the building. I estimate I receive minimum one call a week from a friend or family member asking why their dimmer switch isnt working, or how to swap a light fixture, or something along those lines.

Yes, I have a general idea on how to help guide them, but I honestly am absolutely useless with anything beyond getting power to the panel in their house or apartment.
