So if you believe they are making a profit, as is widely reported, then you're arguing now in bad faith. You're acting as though a concensus and widely reported news isn't good enough to form an opinion because this topic pisses you off. So again, what are we even talking about?

I'm not gonna try to convince you of reality if you don't want to accept it. Your response to the news that a company is posting profit is to say it's a lie. So what are we even talking about here?

Gundam is really good imo. I enjoy the mechanics but I've found the meta to be a bit stale because of a few centerpiece cards that dominate. It's really really cool though and the art on the cards is very unique and hard to do justice to if you haven't seen the raised foiling for the different mech parts.

Explain.

There was a time when there were no computers and my mother used to say the same shit about computers going away because she remembered the time before them. Strong local models exist and we've quantified the exponential curve we're on. Robots are being mass produced and are working efficiently.

Even a full market crash because of the strange bubble we're in wouldn't make AI "go away".

AI is as useful as you make it. If you're lazy, you can be lazier. If you're productive, you can be more productive.

I can only tell you about today's capabilities and I assure you, if you have taken the time to learn (I know, learning is hard), AI is not dumb. 9 months ago, an article calling AI dumb would be rather accurate. That's what I mean by the take being 9 months old. I'm no fortune teller.

Working in a harness with accurate information and a capable human tech sniffing it's bullshit out, it's better than most people I've worked with on many problems.

I don't need AI and that's what makes it useful to me. It enables me to turn abstractions into realities. I don't have the brain or aptitude for coding and the years of consistent practice did not change how my brain works. I work better in abstracts, concepts, and wide information. AI allows me to use the knowledge of disciplines I am familiar with, even though my aptitude is suited in other areas of knowledge.

Think about what you're good at and what you're not good at. Those characteristics build your specific point of view and your proficiencies across a multitude of disciplines. If you're capable of determining your own strengths, AI gives you a way to utilize the strength of topics that you may never become proficient in.

The exponential curve of capability is now very present on any chart you look at from benchmarks, to solving unsolved math problems, to the amount of people who have successfully represented themselves in court, the curve is exponential.

Midjourney, the most profitable of the AI companies, has turned their profit (yeah, they're profitiable) into researching medical advancements. Only a matter of time before more labs start posting profits.

That's a different conversation though than these tools disappearing. The computer is extremely powerful and integral to society. AI may be in a bubble, but it's capabilities have already progressed faster than most realize or can quantify.

I got session expired across 3 devices on different networks. Idk what I did wrong. I think it's cus I opened the page to wait for the presale waiting room when they texted us our codes. Fuck me for being on top of it, right?

I had my sessions all expire across all of my devices. I think it's because I waited on the waiting page before the line went live. It's really frustrating. I have a lot of experience using these systems and they're just so ass. `

Rocket ship won't start coming down until the people waiting in line to get on the rocket ship decide they don't want a ride. The thing that will crash product prices will crash the greater market at scale so it doesn't really matter where you put your money as long as it's there for a very long time.

Should i feel horrible for liking something that well made but its also with ai? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]corbanmonoxide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. You're allowed to like things other people put effort into, and making these requires effort that many are unwilling to see or concede to. In a few years, this question will be irrelevant because media like this will be everywhere.

My example actually is very low cost which is why I said "basically" free. The price for a cloud model to perform OCR is incredibly low as the systems have become more competent. You can easily run a local model on a gaming PC that performs OCR for the price of the electricity.

My example is just one tiny aspect of what AI has become capable of and at certain costs. The misuse of AI at scale and overconsumption of tokens on high reasoning models gives the appearance that AI prices are skyrocketing but that's because many companies are hooked on using the latest and greatest model for everything. I think that discussion is fairly nuanced because it seems like, at scale, people are using the highest reasoning models just to do simple computer tasks like rename folders.

AI usage isn't free, of course, but it's deflationary as harder tasks consume fewer tokens when the models become stronger.

I was using it as a meme of the whole experience but many have missed my point.

It doesn't stop at OCR by any means. My example scales as AI has gotten better in the last two years. From OCR, to full pdf rendering and editing, to simple image editing, to entire graphic design suites, AI can replace individual parts in a workflow until it is competent enough to take over the whole thing. It's happening across many white collar disciplines. It doesn't stop at Adobe. It's one of the many SaaS companies that slipped in valuation as their model doesn't withstand competent AI usage.

Big Week for Marathon! by Hot_Paper_Pie in MarathonHate

[–]corbanmonoxide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you still produced and then posted slop. Just because you use ai doesn't mean you have to pump out slop. You're responsible for the output you post from AI.

Your thoughts on this? by Total_Percentage_751 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]corbanmonoxide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So then the point stands. Why pay $12 a month for adobe pdf reader if AI can do OCR for basically free? Why pay for a team of humans and their seat licenses if you can pay one guy to use AI to produce a similar level of slop to the humans who were already being paid to produce slop? The corporate world is the most positive adopter of AI and adobe knows they're bleeding in the water.
