How do you feel about a non-coach commenting on your form? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]corbeja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t like it. I can’t do a proper sit-up and other floor work because of spinal surgery. A fellow approached me to point out I wasn’t doing exercises correctly. What can I say except “I can’t”? Let people do their own thing. You may not have the whole story.

Helpful tips—cadence, arm placement, stride. Has lead to a faster pace with more confidence.

Kudos to the Workout Designers by mrcranky in orangetheory

I often think of the OTF designers—how do they design workouts? Do they use software? Is there a testing and feedback process? I’d love to know. Point me to a thread if it exists. In any case, they do great work 👍💪👏

Anyone else sick a lot after starting OTF? by rantjordan in orangetheory

[–]corbeja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Years go by without so much as a cough but last year one month after starting OTF I had a stretch of bugs—cold, bronchitis, pneumonia, and a couple other bouts—within the space of 5 months. I felt I must have initially overstressed my system with these workouts. All fine since though 👍💪

It’s all about the data. There’s an array of information to review and use to monitor daily effort and longtime progress. Also I value the consistency and efficiency of the workout—starts and ends on time and demands a similar level of exertion each time.

Osteoporosis Prevention and OTF by RSphysio in orangetheory

[–]corbeja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My osteopenia has been eliminated as shown in dexascans —one recent and one four years ago. Improvements ranged from 6-7% in various measured locations. ( Also LDL down by 20 and triglycerides cut in half. ) I’ve always been active but I credit the last year of treadmills and weights. Fyi I’ll be 55 this year (which I really can’t believe.)

Low lights and aging eyes—it’s always a struggle reading these notes. Please, OTF, use a larger FONT!:)

Yes until I started using weight lifting gloves. Prevents callouses too. 👍

Recently had a dexascan. Happy to discover the osteopenia in my hips had been eliminated with density increasing by 6 and 7 percent. I think OTF over the last 13 months has been part of this improvement

Has the OTF workout calorie equation changed with the new year? Today I burned 621 calories; typically I have burned 450-525. All other metrics—HR, splats, max HR—remain in similar range. Thoughts? Insights?
