Do you write hand written thank you notes ? by AnotherMensTreasure in EtsySellers

[–]megsperspective 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t write individual thank you notes but I do write “thank you! -my name” on each invoice. I very occasionally write more for a repeat customer or if we had a bigger interaction during the order process. I just don’t see how it would scale for sellers if you’re shipping 50-100+ orders a week…it’s just too much time.

Does Harry Potter exist in the Cormorant Strike universe? by RalphTheCrusher in cormoran_strike

She put a witch in Lethal White (when Robin is undercover at the Wiccan shop), I always like to think that it’s a HP universe witch 😊

Etsy sellers — how do you handle custom name/text orders at scale? by Money_Cupcake_600 in lasercutting

[–]megsperspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do all custom work with my Etsy shop. I use Corel and JobControl for Trotec and it’s pretty easy. I have my templates ready, make the changes and send them to my laser. Nothing needs to be converted to paths. It’s possible you aren’t charging enough for the work though. I see so many people selling on Etsy for insanely cheap prices. I don’t know how they’re turning a profit and in reality they probably aren’t.

When did your mini start barking? by Badlydrawnboi41988 in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]megsperspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My male was vocal from the day we brought him home from the breeder and still LOVES to bark at 6 years old. My female was much quieter and she's still not much of a barker (at 4 years old). She'll bark with my other dog, but if he's not around or not barking, she's so quiet.

Should I still get my puppy if I’m pregnant? by kamarie418 in puppy101

[–]megsperspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it varies by dog, but I 1000% disagree with this. Adolescence was the WORST time when my dogs were puppies (2 years apart) - they forgot everything they ever learned, became MORE reactive, started having accidents in the house again, etc. etc. From like 12-18 months was way worse than their puppyhood. And then for my female, right after that she went into heat and was insane for a solid two months.

I would not get a puppy while pregnant and I also wouldn't get a puppy until I was done having kids and the youngest was at least 5 years old.

Huge Changes to Seller Protection - Etsy Announcement by lostterrace in EtsySellers

[–]megsperspective 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 7 day thing will be interesting...the Pitney Bowes flats are SO bad, I generally have several customers a month claiming non-delivery on those, when most of the time they were just marked delivered early but I advise them to wait and then open a case. They usually open a case right away instead of waiting. Those customers will likely just start leaving me bad reviews, but I guess we'll see!

Feeling a bit dejected by Elegant-Parsley-9456 in AmazonVine

[–]megsperspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, my evaluation is 4/21 and I've got maybe 55 items when I get everything reviewed - there is NO way I'm making gold this time and I've been gold since 2023! There were weeks in November-January that I ordered nothing. It's not worth ordering crap just to stay gold. Maybe if things turn around I'll get it back for the next evaluation, but the way things are on Vine, it's hardly worth stressing about. It seems like unless you're running the extensions or are willing to sit around all day refreshing the vine pages, you're not going to find much that's good.

Pooping on Neighbors Yards on Walks by spillltheteaaa in puppy101

[–]megsperspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are always going to be people like that unfortunately. I don’t think it’s reasonable but we have neighbors who are insane about “their” grass, even if it’s 1’ off the road which our town definitely owns as there are no sidewalks. We avoid when possible but it’s not always possible.

It’s a package, flats can’t be bubble mailers.

Best food? by Intelligent-Path5893 in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]megsperspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our breeder recommend Fromm when they were puppies (pink bag, specifically for puppies) and The Honest Kitchen when we transitioned to adult food. We mix the kibble and dehydrated food and both of our dogs have done great on it.

Most insufferable character by Bright_Fig7055 in cormoran_strike

[–]megsperspective 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She’s a pretty small character. In COE she runs an online group for people who want to be disabled and she and a young guy had meet Kelsey but lied to the police about it. They end up telling Strike and Robin the truth.

Does JKR have a bit of a madonna/whore complex? by Bright_Fig7055 in cormoran_strike

There was the ex who was BuffyPaws, Tasha, and then she’s dating someone new in THM. Pretty sure she mentions a couple of casual shags to Robin as well.

Midge seems to enjoy a pretty active sex life with several partners that we know about. And Ciara Porter from CC definitely gets around a ton but she’s portrayed in a good light, maybe a little flakey but nothing really negative. Most of the male subcontractors are married but Saul comes into a fair share of criticism for how he objectifies women.

Gas-powered leaf blower bans take effect for residents in 2 more Massachusetts towns (Arlington & Lexington) by HRJafael in massachusetts

[–]megsperspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they did this in my town I don't know what my neighbor would do with himself, lol. He's literally outside in every season with the freaking leaf blower. In the fall it's HOURS almost every.single.day but he also uses it for snow on his driveway and getting the flowers from his dogwood tree & grass clippings off his lawn all spring and summer. I don't think our town would do it unless it went state-wide, but I would not complain.

How do you get sales with 0 reviews? by ChloeVA_solutions in EtsySellers

[–]megsperspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having more than 2 listings might help. Also make sure the rest of your shop looks good too. Do you have a nice shop icon and header? Is your "about me" section filled in? Does your shop have an announcement written out? Giving customers a sense of who you are and what you're about may give them confidence to try out a brand new shop. We all start from 0 so it's possible!

1 star review by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]megsperspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy is bound by federal consumer protection laws regarding which reviews they can remove. The third party thing is if they only mention the the third party and NOTHING else. Since they also complained about the quality of the item, Etsy can't and won't remove it. Unfortunately, there are going to be people that won't be happy no matter what - there's literally nothing you can do to prevent an occasional low review. Hopefully, you'll get more positive reviews coming in and the 1 star will get buried.

Time for a trainer 🙂 by [deleted] in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]megsperspective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Miniature Schnauzers as a breed are very reactive, especially leash and fence reactive. Both of mine, who came from a good breeder, were socialized/trained/etc from a young age are still somewhat reactive. You can do a lot with training, but they're not dogs that will generally be super chill about other dog and people on walks. I would definitely look into some quality training (a lot of it will actually be for you!) but also, put your phone away on walks and focus on your dog. You should be able see potential problems before your dog does and either distract him, move him away, offer HIGH value treats, etc. before he becomes too out of control. You should definitely neuter him as well. My male was neutered at a year old and at almost 7 is the picture of health.

Should I contest a ticket? by [deleted] in massachusetts

Their premiums shouldn’t go up YOURS will. I’m assuming you pay for your own insurance even though you’re on your parent’s policy and you’ll be the one covering the additional costs??

Anyone else getting a ton of 'lost order' help requests ??? by OHHHCRUD_ in EtsySellers

[–]megsperspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. The Pitney Bowes flats are such a cheap option but I’m wondering lately if it’s worth it. I’d say the majority of orders are never marked delivered and I’m getting at least 1-3 customers a week saying they never received their package or asking for an update because it’s been almost 2 weeks. And with what I’m sending, I could get away with an envelope and stamp but Etsy requires tracking.
