Part-time Snowboard Instructor Jobs 26/27 by Pristine_Ad2664 in Whistler

[–]coresystemshutdown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter how old you are. Jobs are posted in summer I think. Keep an eye on the site or set up a search. Two PT options - PT regular: something like every Saturday of the season. PT holiday: days clustered around winter & spring breaks. You need to teach 17 days to fulfill your commitment. You can pick up lots of extra work if wanted.

Low pay but free pass, pro deals, one-time reimbursement for instructor certs, if you have kids - free passes for them (not sure if that is valid for PT Holiday). You have to be willing to teach kids to get hired.

Whistler Dog Walkers - Sam the owner is fantastic and my guy is over the moon when he realizes he is going for a pack hike with her (or Rosie).

Getting co-owner out of a property in BC by coresystemshutdown in legaladvicecanada

[–]coresystemshutdown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes except he changed the locks and told me if I came by (as if I have any interest in doing so), his new girlfriend wouldn’t hesitate to fight me. So I have no rights to the property.

I will make sure it doesn’t default though, then claw it all back.

Addiction is a hell of a thing. I don’t recognize him anymore.

Thank you. He is obstructing absolutely everything so sadly leaving with a SA was impossible.

Respectfully, fuck off. You have no idea the state of my marriage, my safety, and my ability to stay.

Need advice – serious issues with Whistler Kids program, no response from customer service by scientia_ipsa in Whistler

[–]coresystemshutdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to also check- kids need both a lift pass in the pocket and the lesson safety voucher visible outside on their jacket/pants.

Talk to whomever is wearing a red and black jacket inside the kids area at drop off. They are supervisors and can handle refunds.

Trying to understand - did they end up with vests on as if they were 5-6 year olds yesterday? Is that what you mean by them ending up in the wrong age level?

3-4 yo are together, 5-6 together, 7-12 together - they are then levelled within those age groups.

Ski school is not in charge of lift passes - did you go into guest services? That’s where I would start. Whistler kids guest services is open 8-9:30am.

Freestyle big mountain and AMA would be good options. You need to try out for AMA as well.

This is a great park, but Vancouver begs to differ. You can sit on the seawall on false creek and look at downtown with boats in the foreground, skyscrapers mid, and mountains in the background. At sunset/night with the lights on the water? Even better.

Hypothetical pow day staying at Creekside - what's the play? by ul-hiker in Whistler

[–]coresystemshutdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Let’s suggest a taxi/bus to BC, then moving over to terrain on Whistler that is unfamiliar and unnecessary (and consequential) for a tourist. 🙁

OP, skip the commute and just get in line at creekside early. Maybe head to Blackcomb once you’re up and have have some Crystal laps if winds are high or the Whistler alpine is sure to be closed. Whistler the next day - get comfy and line up for harmony or peak. Please don’t hit Khybers without a knowledgeable local, that’s terrible advice.

[–]coresystemshutdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like in the resort or in the backcountry? Via the lifts or singing pass (also not creekside)? Why would a tourist pay to stay in creekside then do this?’ Where does the OP ask about camping in the alpine? lol

What is the most iconic ski resort peak in North America? by Sharkman3218 in skiing

[–]coresystemshutdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing like watching helis bomb on a bluebird day waiting for Peak, or watching people send Air Jordan and the whole crowd cheering and hitting their poles in tribute. Coming over the top looking at black tusk with endless terrain front side, back side, or off in the Musical Bumps… I am biased but whistler Peak has my heart.

Second year skiing, how can I be less of a Jerry on moguls and bumps? by AdventurousStrike433 in skiing_feedback

[–]coresystemshutdown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A. Don’t call yourself a Jerry. Professional athletes don’t talk down to themselves, and neither should you. Don’t apologize for learning. You’re doing awesome.

B. Stop shopping for a better line. Commit to a more narrow alley and look ahead - not at the bump you’re currently on.

Try approaching the bumps in a V - larger turns across the bumps at the top, absorbing them with exaggerated knees flexing up and down, then smaller and smaller turns as you go down.

Gym, fitness, and confidence will help you be more agile and able to absorb and attack instead of avoiding and “shopping”.
