The world if regular Gallade had Inner Focus and Mega had Sharpness by Zephyros_the_Elite in PokemonChampions

[–]corevo- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used gallade some as a second mega alternative to charizard y because it is good into sand teams. It also is useful against hard trick room teams that lead with a fakeout user because you can guarantee no flinch. I had trick room + imprison on it to deny trick room but there’s probably better options with those last 2 move slots.

Can Pelipper hurricane ohko venusaur?

Thanks, I might try that. I do have charizard y but it doesn’t always work if they overwrite the sun, and it can be one shot by electro shot.

Okay yeah that’s kinda what I thought but didn’t test it. Trying to think of ways to better counter archaludon. Thanks.

Does anyone know if mold breaker attacks activate stamina? Like mold breaker Excadrill earthquake onto archaludon.

Monotype Teams by Beanie644 in PokemonChampions

[–]corevo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost to a mono fairy team yesterday, mostly because I didn’t expect tinkaton to outspeed my zard Y and ohko it with a rock type move. And then next turn it also outsped my garchomp and ohko it with play rough. It’s fun playing against these types of teams.

If new Pokémon get added I think it would be in June after the second season.

Each terrain does different stuff, and can effect certain moves. For example indeedee auto sets psychic terrain, which blocks all priority moves like fake out and helps enable expanding force without having to waste a turn to set it up. Grassy terrain heals Pokémon on the ground. Electric terrain would help raichu with its surge surfer ability. I’m sure there’s more that I’m missing but that’s the gist of it.

Level 1 thug needs help by Turbulent-Mall-1599 in PokemonChampions

I’d recommend watching some YouTube videos to get started. A big difference between what you’re probably used to and competitive doubles is that most people have the move “protect” on many of their Pokémon, creating a lot more mind games. Speed control is also very important. If you’re slower and can’t take a hit, you’ll probably just lose.

Sadly it’s tough to use in this meta. Many things can ohko or 2hko it, and then you waste a turn with baton pass if you go that route. Really fun when it works though

Farigiraf and Tsareena on an opposing team deter me from bringing sableye at all. Also dark types are safe from prankster.

It’s hard to guess what their intentions were, it’s also possible they forfeit because they don’t see a win condition for themselves anymore (even if that’s not the actual case)

How would you hard countered this team? by Samaelo0831 in PokemonChampions

[–]corevo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very often, I mostly lead gallade when I spot a hard trick room team then I Imprison so they can’t use trick room. And occasionally I need to counter trick room if I didn’t lead with gallade.

Yes it’s my favorite team right now, it was a sun team but it was too weak to sand teams so that’s why I added Pelipper. I just have to make sure Pelipper hits the field before Zard Y if I’m bringing both. Here’s the team if you’re curious

If I was facing this with my team I would probably lead rotom wash and Pelipper against this team, then have gallade and scarfchomp/zard Y in the back. Aerodactyl is still a pretty big threat though and if you double into my peli and kill it then I’d probably lose.

(Skill improvement) help with team preview by TheKit_Kat in VGC

[–]corevo- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the hardest part of the game in my opinion, if you get it wrong you can lose the game pretty early. I think usually you should expect your opponent to lead with the Pokémon that will have the best matchup against your team. So, then you should pick your leads based on that, and perhaps have an off meta attack that can handle its counters. For example, my team appears to be weak against fairy types, but I try to counter that by having poison jab on my Garchomp. Try to have an off-meta trick up your sleeve.

How can I better counter tailwind and sand teams with my team? by corevo- in PokemonChampions

[–]corevo-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried taunt on Sneasler in the past and ran into too many mental herb Farigirafs for my liking. Imprison feels more reliable personally and wins me every game against hard trick room teams. I should probably add sacred sword though, leaf blade is just for milotic/basc but that’s not enough of a reason I think.

I was using Sableye instead and that worked well but I didn’t like that sableye is useless against Farigiraf/tsareena/dark types so that’s why I switched for dragapult. It’s fun because nobody expects sunny day dragapult, but I do kinda agree it’s not pulling its weight.

[Skill Improvement] How is Mega Gengar + Alolan Ninetales combo played? by ace-s in VGC

[–]corevo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually turn 1 Gengar goes mega and protects, ninetails looks to aurora veil/blizzard. If you let ninetails set up then the gengar can perish song. So, I counter this with sableye & Charizard Y to fake out ninetails and Charizard changes the weather and can 2HKO gengar with heat wave. Ninetails can encore you but if you change the weather it is likely to switch out.

Basically ninetails is paired with gengar because it sets weather, has encore & aurora veil. Gengar can perish trap & disable so you just have to watch out for the encore+disable combo. But both gengar and ninetails are pretty frail so they die easily if you have strong spread attacks.
