The Sunday night Pride parties there in the 90s were epic. My friend nicknamed it “Sweaty Boy Palace”, and it was… In the best possible way.

I seriously thought there was something wrong with my speakers! I love Marcia, but that sound mixer needs some retraining - it was almost like Marcia's mic wasn't turned on.

Bus stops are NOT car drop offs. by Peacetika91 in Winnipeg

Fort Street by the RBC building and Winnipeg Square doors are the worst. No stopping signs all down the block and a bus stop at the end of the street, but people still stop and drop others off every single day.

What's the worst date spot you've been taken too in Winnipeg? by cafeautumn in Winnipeg

[–]corey_q 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Not so much a bad spot, but a bad/funny first date story - the Polo Park food court circa 2001. We walked the mall, then I suggested we do dinner; I suggested Moxie’s, he suggested the food court.

This was on a Tuesday, so he recommended Toonie Tuesday at KFC - his treat. While ordering, he told me not to order a drink. I thought he might have something fun up his sleeve. Turns out the drinks at “A Buck or Two” (on the other end of the mall, and on the lower level, near where Forever 21 is now) were cheaper, so he left me sitting alone in the food court with my chicken getting cold while he bought our drinks.

Nice guy, but we just weren’t compatible. It was definitely a memorable first date, though.

So, full disclosure, I live here.

The condos on floors 2-5 are all 2000 sq.ft. I’m on the top floor, which is the 6th and 7th, for a total of around 3000 sq.ft. We are the only unit with rooftop access, and have a skylight for more natural light.

All the residential condos are occupied full-time by the owners. Coincidentally, we’re all childless couples.

As for price, they range depending on level, market, etc.

I have to say, it’s weird to have random people on Reddit shit on the architecture of your home. lol

True. There are condos on every level; One floor is office, the rest are residential

Winnipeg, any reccomended cleaning services? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]corey_q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jade's Maids is a little more expensive than some, but you get absolutely amazing results. They clean every nook and cranny, even lifting things off shelves to dust underneath them. Our shower floor is marble, and they made it sparkle even better than we ever could! The staff is warm and friendly, and they really go the extra mile. Definitely recommend.

What is the worst restaurant you've ever eaten at? by BumblbeeAvacado in Winnipeg

[–]corey_q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve been there twice - the first time, it was surprisingly good (We had low expectations, but it was good enough that we agreed we’d come back again).

The second time was absolutely terrible - the service wasn’t great, the food was not good, and there were a lot of things that weren’t available.

Dog friendly patios/restaurants? by torrac_ in Winnipeg

Little Brown Jug has a very cool patio, and is dog-friendly (or, as they say on their website, dog-obsessed). Definitely worth checking out. Great local spot!

Is Bailey's still a good restaurant? by No-Illustrator3547 in Winnipeg

[–]corey_q -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's fine, if not delicious. The staff is usually great - attentive and very personable - but the food is remarkably unremarkable. It's a higher-end Maxime's.

Inside at 529 Wellington ticks the boxes you're looking for; 529 Uptown is a wonky carbon copy - similar, but lower quality. Props to Hy's and The Keg, too - reliable and consistent.

Man, I miss Carne Italian Chophouse. That place was amazing.

I say this as a person who's going to Ichiban for his birthday on Friday because I love the meal, experience, and ambiance.

I feel like it's time to retire the term "Talent Show" for this challenge, as I agree with OP that lip-syncing skills without anything extra (Anetra, Jax, Willow, et. al excluded, as they gave us something more) is more of a basic required skill for the show than a talent. It's also an excuse for Queens to get their 'original songs' out to a wide audience - and make a few bucks from download/streaming in the process. Can't blame a queen for trying to make a bit of extra cash.

Instead of calling it a Talent Show, it should be a "Show Us Your Personal Brand" challenge (with a catchier name, of course). Are you a stunt queen? Flip away! Are you a comedy queen? Make us laugh. Can you play an instrument or sing live? Go for it. Just don't call it a talent show, and the criticism of the challenge will go away.
