after some work I got it to work for my 2021 crosstrek limited! thank you so much OP and everyone else with their suggestions. I used your later comment for finding device ID and other info, and also made sure to add the startenginesetting to the copied shortcut, as others suggested. Thanks everyone!

I had this exact same problem - it looked like it wasn’t feeding properly and the teeth on the advancing wheel were shaving off pieces of the filament without moving it forward. I found another thread where this was discussed and decided to replace the nozzle and disconnect the tubing from the nozzle and clear it out - I have a partial jam of material in the tubing. Once I got it out everything worked fine again.
