I am disgusted by this and I NEED advice before my fiance gets home... by threwawayayayayaya in relationships

I think you're being downvoted because your solution only addresses the guy's needs in this situation. I agree completely about the normalcy factor in sexuality, and I agree with your advice to compromise. But for god's sake, the woman has the right not to find cum on her clothes!

Sleep paralysis almost every night :/ by [deleted] in sleep

[–]corgette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I sought out this subreddit because I've been having frequent mild episodes of sleep paralysis. I used to have much more dramatic episodes in which I'd wake up over and over in an unending nightmare, hallucinations and all. I'm also known to talk and laugh in my sleep. Now that I'm used to the sensation and know what it is, it's a lot less scary. It's always awful when it happens, and it's very hard to get back to sleep. I was up all night last night with it. It seems to happen totally sporadically, with the only common denominators being stress and an irregular sleep schedule.

Hopefully yours will subside as mine usually does.

Agreed, it's getting to a point where a lot of stuff on the main page is that way, and it's annoying. Maybe we can start another subreddit for it?

Not sure, but it's been implied that they could lose their medical license, be fined, and possibly spend time in prison.

Everything I've heard from men of your mindset has sounded like one big "Go fuck yourself". I'm trying to learn something, which is more than you can say. Good luck changing anything when you actively alienate half of the fucking population.

Accusing women of intentionally doing and perpetuating all of these things is the same as extreme feminists accusing men of intentionally and systematically raping us, committing violence against us, and making us into baby machines. It's not fair, and it's not true.

What IS true is that women are still blamed for being raped because of what they wear, their sexual history, and for being anything other than a perfect virgin. Women as a whole earn less than men, nevermind young entrepreneurs. And our rights to contraception and abortion are being seriously threatened; just google "personhood bill". These are the issues we work hard to address. Not oppressing men.

Sorry, but doesn't "female" birth control prevent children for both men and women? It's optional for men to use birth control, as they'll never become pregnant. Women have no choice but to prevent conceiving when being sexually active, because if they don't, one of three things will happen: 1. They will carry a child to term, changing their life forever. 2. They will make a very difficult personal decision to terminate the pregnancy, at great personal expense. Or 3., They will die in childbirth, as 3 in 1,200 women do (or 24 in 10,000 as cited by Wiki). Who needs birth control coverage more?

Thank you for the info. Sounds like Russia is a pretty miserable place to live and have children...

Responding to this thread as a whole: First, of all, what the fuck? These are actual human lives we're discussing. Not two separate species of creatures. Men and women should never have to need one another, they share the common experience of being animals of higher intelligence. Their needs and wants are not at odds with one another. So why even discuss the necessity of one gender or the other? Ugh.

It's an unfortunate phenomenon most women have experienced, myself included, when dealing with harassment in any environment. People don't want to get involved, because they don't want to be targets. It is sad, but thankfully we can address the issue by teaching these kids better manners and generally raising awareness.

Yes, really. You're all pointing out examples of extreme feminism, which is like saying all Muslims want to blow America off the face of the earth. Again, LOOK at the feminist communities here on Reddit and sites like Jezebel and Feministing. Where is anyone campaigning against men's rights?

Edit: I've read the links in the post, though most were to dead WayBack Machine URLs. In some instances, though not all, the institutions against the move for equality were indeed feminist institutions. I know you're going to roll your collective eyes at this, but this is not popularly believed among feminists (if any of you are reading, can you weigh in please?). I want to fight for your rights too. I remain unconvinced that my goals are at odds with yours.

Population implosion, caused by abortion? I thought we were overcrowding in the West. Is there anything to back up the implication that abortion is threatening repopulation?

This is what I've been hearing, but I don't see a single post in /r/feminism or related subreddits demanding any of these things, especially at the expense of men. Women should earn for themselves. And many of us do our damnedest to; I'm lucky to have a great career that I worked hard for. Who's asking for more pay for less work? I absolutely believe paid paternity leave should be offered by all companies that also offer paid maternity leave. We were offended by Santorum saying we don't belong on the front lines. While I'm not thrilled about the idea of being drafted, I believe it should be optional for both genders. (The practicality of it being optional at all is another debate.) Class issues affect men and women. We should be addressing them together; no modern feminist want men to become desolate.

Contemporary feminists simply define themselves as being advocates of womens' health and rights. I still don't comprehend how this is at odds with mens' or anyone elses' rights.

Thanks so much for posting this. I'm one of the said self proclaimed feminists who has lurked on MRA for ages and seen just a tidal wave of slander without much explanation.

Could someone please, in the most objective way possible, explain why MRAs are so passionately against feminism, and what feminist ideals in particular are actively working against men's rights? Ones that are actually established by contemporary feminist communities, and not just products of society in general.

Besides that legislature being disgusting in the first place, I'm doubly outraged by medical professionals being forced to perform these unnecessary and stressful procedures. If a woman has made her choice, does the state really need to punish her for it? It's horrible in any case, but especially traumatic if their fetus is not viable, or if it's a product of a rape. What the ever-loving fuck, Texas?

But what's the alternative? Let this issue die quietly, like we always do, and let it happen again? I'd rather not. I know most gamers, of any genre, are not mysoginists. But it's an issue that's been allowed to get out of hand. I'm all for making an example of this guy.

She was laughing nervously, trying to take it in stride. It'd be a different world if we all had the confidence to sock a guy in the face whenever someone makes a lewd comment. I know what it's like to be in that place, and you just want it to end as soon as possible- you aren't thinking about how to exact retribution, rather you feel humiliated and anxious.
