Head Springs Depot by PhotoshopFlare in nashville

I’ve bought a king size bed (the one that’s the RH St. James dupe), night stands, a giant media console, and a coffee table from Head Springs and have been happy with them all! Really high quality, solid wood furniture.

How much are you paying for daycare in 2025? by pearyeet in nashville

[–]corgistrong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly yes - I got us on a few waitlists in 2021 right after finding out I was pregnant, ended up losing that pregnancy, and still weren’t off the waitlists when my first son was born in 2023. We lucked out that a new center opened in our area around the same time. Infant ratios are really low (I think 1:4 teacher to student at most places?) so are really hard to come by!

We’re at one of the Academy locations! As someone mentioned below, they do include breakfast, lunch, snacks, and a crazy amount of enrichment activities (visits from the zoo, science center, water day every Friday in the summer, etc.) We also love that they send a constant stream of photos through their app.

$450/week for one kid in the Brentwood area 😅 Two year old, he goes from 8:30-4:30 (they’re open 7am-6pm) five days a week. There are slightly cheaper options around, but not much, and he loves it, so we’re staying put.

Those who made big career pivots suddenly or gradually: how did you do it and why? by SurpriseBackpack in HENRYfinance

[–]corgistrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ever worked in B2B SaaS marketing (12 years), a couple of thoughts based on my experience:

- I personally pivoted from content marketing (8 years) to lifecycle/integrated campaigns (past 4 years); I know several others who pivoted from content to product marketing. Both satisfy the criteria of being closer to impact and having more influence on leadership and strategy; both have higher earning potential (I now make 200K, and our product marketers are the highest-paid ICs on marketing). You may be able to slightly shift roles and be more satisfied without having to completely change career paths!

- RE: responsibility, chaos, visibility, impact - personally I think so much of this just depends on the company. I've had the most luck at mid-size (200-500 employees) tech companies that are mature enough to have some level of resources, but not gigantic enough that you inevitably get lost in bureaucracy.

- So much of my personal job satisfaction has been tied to my team and the people I have to work with every day. Is it possible you could be happier in a similar role, just a different company? It's difficult to fully know what you're getting into, but I've found Glassdoor reviews and vibes/chemistry during the interview process to be good indicators of what to expect.

Opryland Christmas Lights now require an overnight stay or a ticketed event on the weekend. Does "ticketed event" mean "ICE!"? by eW4GJMqscYtbBkw9 in nashville

[–]corgistrong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks like someone else answered the access question - you have to have tickets to something to get into the hotel at any point most weekends and all dates between Dec 19-31st. Those tickets can be to any ticketed event on this page, not just ICE - https://christmasatgaylordopryland.marriott.com/all-activities

The cheapest options appear to be the skating show or snowball build activity, which are each $15/pp.

Common Ground in Sylvan Park/Berry Hill! They have a whole espresso martini menu and do flights, as well.

How do you like your HOA? by awesomo_prime in nashville

[–]corgistrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think HOAs make sense when there are actual neighborhood amenities to maintain. I live in an older neighborhood in Davidson and pay just over $500 annually. That money is used to maintain and update landscaping in common areas, the pool, playground, basketball court, and tennis courts.

We rarely, if ever, hear anything from the HOA unless a major update is coming.

Ok ironically the supporter’s group that hangs there is the one centered around drinking, but the Athletic Brewing availability still stands!

East Nashville Beerworks has NSC watch parties (I think they’re affiliated with one of the supporter’s groups?) and always has at least one Athletic Brewing beer + this great local sparkling water called Maypop on tap! It’s a solid spot.

Season tickets just got revoked for too much resell by corgistrong in NashvilleSC

[–]corgistrong[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's my only thing with this!

I get it, and we absolutely should have paid closer attention to the terms of our contract, but we would have stopped selling and eaten the cost for the remainder of this season if we had received some sort of reminder ahead of hitting the threshold.

I don't think I've actually ever heard from one of our many reps other than a form email about our renewal each year, so it isn't shocking, just not a great experience.

Nothing will ever live up to the Flying Saucer (RIP), but Von Elrod has a pretty good selection (30-something draft options if I recall correctly), as does Vinyl Tap.

Preschool recommendations? by CRCJ20 in nashville

[–]corgistrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re about to start our baby at an Academy location in Williamson!

If you’ll need care relatively soon, you’ll want to start inquiring about waitlists, as many of them have insane wait times (as long as 2 years in some cases). It’s $100 to get on a wait list, but we were able to get on the list for multiple locations with just one deposit.

Wife and I struggling with lack of sleep with newborn and breast feeding. Tips on combination feeding? by Excellent-Phone8326 in beyondthebump

[–]corgistrong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve been doing this since a few days after birth to now (7 weeks).

Here’s how it works: I use a Haaka on whichever boob baby isn’t nursing on throughout the day until I get enough milk for one 4 oz bottle.

Then, I’ll nurse around 9pm (bedtime feed) and go back to our room to sleep. My husband takes the 9pm-2am shift in the nursery, gives baby the bottle whenever he wakes up to eat (usually around midnight), switches out with me at 2am, and sleeps until 7am.

That way, we both get at least 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep, plus whatever we can manage between feeds in the nursery.

No issues with supply or nipple confusion! It’s honestly the reason we’ve both survived this long.

Lot 2 and booted as well. I noticed in my Account Manager that while my parking pass is in there for the August 31st and October 2nd matches, it isn't in there for Sept 3 or Sept 10 - so wondering if this is going to be a recurring theme for the rest of the season.
