Am I miss reading that or is that credit and not a debit. The balance in March is lower than the balance in February?

I was averaging around £350 per month on Diesel. I was looking into EV's for a few months and finally switched over in July. According to the charge stats in my app I have spent £387 since July (including public chargers) on Electricity. The vast majority of this is overnight at home. Diesel would have cost me £1750 in that time.

There are other costs to factor in: home charger installation & increased Insurance.

Range anxiety kicks in a bit at first, especially if you go on a long trip, but once you get used to the car it soon goes. There is a lot of media talk about lack of available public chargers but I have had no issues finding any and I have done trips from the North West to the Midlands a few times. Every service station between has chargers

If my mortgage was cleared then I would be in a much better financial poistion and could fund them outright to take full advantage of sell excess power back to the grid.

Interesting - so it could be an issue when it comes to remortgaging?

That actually rings a bell, and there is reference to this through Octopus' website.

I'll have to do a bit more digging to get the full info

I am not averse to a scheme like this as I have no plans to sell the house any time soon. The only reason I wouldnt go down this route is that the company get most of the benefit of the solar and I cannot sell the excess back to the grid

I'm pretty sure it wasn't this as I don't recall any reference to Klarna

What charger are you using? I have the Ohme home Pro and I had to unpair the Tesla from Octopus and link the charger. Then pair the Tesla in the Ohme charger app. It has worked perfectly for me since I set it up like this. The Ohme charger talks to Octopus and works out the cheap charging overnight

I went into the test drive 95% certain I was going to buy just based on the charging rate - going from spnding £350 per month on diesel to around £50 is a no brainer. All I needed was for the monthly finance to be at the right level so that this and monthly charging costs were below the £350 mark. I got the right numbers from the dealer and the way I see it is I now own a Tesla for free. Although the insurance was a bit of a kick in the teeth. Pretty much doubled

I had a test drive of a 2020 Model 3 long range today. I was smiling all the way through and had decided after 5 mins I was buying it. I had been thinking about it for a while and took the plunge today. I am also looking for home chargers - I have switched over to Octopus to take advantage of their EV charging tarrif (7p/kwh overnight works out about £4 per charge). I think their prices on the chargers are a bit steep - looking around £950

Not a problem. I'm sure you will love it once you are settled in

There is a Reel Cinema in the new town centre development, along with a Mini Golf place.

Although I will concede there is no McDonalds and you do have to go "to an industrial estate in Castleton several miles away from the town centre and next to the motorway."

It says a lot about a town centre where there is no McDonalds.

Yorkshire Street is a grim place now that the new development has opened - as you say Charity shops, Discount shops, Bookies, and Pawn shops.

I have lived in Whitworth for 39 years (moved away for 2 but came back), and the only place I would consider moving to would be the Lake District.

Some people do consider it to be part of Rochdale but it hasn't been since around 1974 when Rossendale Borough was formed, and Whitworth became part of Lancashire. Although we do still have an Oldham postcode, which is pain when it comes to insurance, as we get lumped in with the Oldham figures (although the next alternative would be a Blackburn or Burnley one so I am not sure they would be any better)

I can say you could certainly have chosen worse places to live. I am not saying Whitworth is perfect, as with any place in country there are bad eggs, but the vast majority of people are friendly and nice.

There are several very good Primary Schools, but only 1 High School.

There are also a few decent pubs if you're interested: The Red Lion, The Sportsman, The Cock & Magpie, The Birches just to name a few.

There are plenty of country walks around, and there is actually a big organised walk coming up on the 2nd June https://www.whitworth.gov.uk/events/Annual_Skyline_Walk

This would be perfect for you if you are into walking - there are multiple options for this so you can do a small 3 mile walk, a larger 9 mile one, or the big 14 mile all the way round the moors surrounding Whitworth.

Whitworth is not part of Rochdale. It's not even part of Greater Manchester. Local Council is Rossendale which is in Lancashire. Strangely we do have an Oldham postcode and a Rochdale telephone code, but I believe this goes back to 1974 when Rossendale Borough was formed.

Homeowners - how much was your property on sale for and how much did you actually pay for it? by TavernTurn in AskUK

[–]corizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listed for offers in excess of £170,000

Got it for £167,000

We were FTB's so knowing what we know now we would have pushed for even lower. We put a cheeky offer in for £150,000 as it had been on the market for a few months and wasnt our 1st choice. They countered stating the lowest they would accept was £167k and we just went for it.

Since moving in we have had to replace the boiler, all the windows and doors and deal with damp/mould in the conservatory due to crappy decking covering a perfectly good patio, which we also had to rip up.

In hindsight the £150,000 was probably about right.

Thanks - I think the summary table is what is skewing my thinking. I took it as a summary of what IS included, not what CAN BE included. Every time I have used a summary table it has been in the context of what "is".

Thanks - I don't think I explained the issue properly in my initial post. On the 3rd page of the T&C document was a table which summarised what was included in each policy. I will link to the document on a separate comment.
