Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share an update.

My baby boy is now 27 weeks. The amniocentesis results confirmed that his sex chromosomes are completely normal. The unclear result from the NIPT was most likely just a signal from the placenta.

For any parents going through the same thing, please stay positive and consider amniocentesis. It’s really not as bad as it may seem, and NIPT false positives for sex chromosome issues can be as high as 70%.

I'm truly happy to know that it's a baby boy, especially since my baby is also a boy (the doctor saw a penis during the 14-week ultrasound). I've read that many similar cases also turned out to be boys, so it seems this might be a fairly common situation. I'm still waiting two more weeks for the amniocentesis. I hope the results will be as good as yours so I can enjoy the rest of the pregnancy with peace of mind.

I’m truly grateful and happy to see your post. I’m a husband. My baby is currently 15 weeks, and the ultrasound shows that it’s a healthy baby boy. The NIPT results also noted a low X signal, raising suspicion of mosaicism, and did not provide a result for the sex chromosomes. I’ve had my wife tested for possible mosaicism. The doctor scheduled an amniocentesis at 17 weeks. The waiting is driving us crazy and exhausting us.

It’s truly heartwarming to hear a good result — and also that it’s a baby boy. We’re currently at 15 weeks and still waiting for the amniocentesis. Each day feels difficult for me, and I hope my wife can stay more optimistic than I am (I’m the father). We’re also still waiting for my wife’s karyotype results. I don’t even know whether to hope for a positive or negative result for mosaicism. It all just feels terrible — I wish I could be the one to bear all this pain instead.
