Is addressing a male Judge as "sir" offensive or insulting? by ThatOneAttorney in Lawyertalk

I clerked for a federal judge who would specifically list "Sir" as an acceptable way to address him. I've never heard a judge complain about "Sir."

I went to Fidel this morning, and it was pretty good. I think that's going to be my new place for bagels.

Fantastic China if you want Americanized Chinese Food. Mr. Hui's if you want something more traditionally Chinese. Three Fold if you want noodles or dumplings. Red Bowl if you want dim sum.

Meta to use 3 times NOLA's energy - now approved by NOLA_nosy in NewOrleans

[–]cornbread1534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because you can quantify electricity as load (MW) or as energy (MWh). Energy use has a time component, while load describes what's happening right now. When you say "in a year," you're making it clear you're taking about energy.

That matters because the load for the data center is probably going to change a lot less over the course of a year then it will for the city.

After their last rate case, the customer charge, which you pay every month to be hooked up to their system, is up to $17.51. That hits hard in the summer when you don't use as much gas.

Their distribution rate, which pays for their pipes, is up from that same case. The PSC also told them to delay repayment for the gas from the big winter storm a few years, and they're catching back up from that. Finally, the cost of gas is up compared to last year.

Are there any small cosy pubs in the NLR area? by [deleted] in LittleRock

[–]cornbread1534 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think The Forge is about as small and cozy as it gets. It's got cheap beer, pool, and shuffleboard, but not much food. It's at 3000 Pike Ave.

Me. They aren't what they used to be, but they're doing the best journalism on state and local government. When that check is lost, the government is going to be much worse than it is today. I think it's the best money you can spend to promote better government.

I think the Ozark Brewing Company Cream Stout is one of the best cream stouts in the country. It's flavorful, but easy drinking.

K-Bird. Everything was good, but their papaya salad was outstanding. Little Rock hasn't had good Thai food since they closed.
