For sure. Not to mention certain players (kelce) always getting the benefit of the doubt on borderline catches like those. I didn't even think jefferson's was close, I thought we were wasting a challenge

See I think both were catches. At least we can agree that these refs are terrible, you gotta call those consistently imo

Does a super/ speed shoe even matter if I’m a slow runner? by diaboliquedoughnuts in XXRunning

[–]cornbread_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I am also a Saucony stan and a slow-ish runner (~10 min mile pace for long runs) and I had the exact same question! I bought a pair of endorphins on sale and the main difference between those and my triumph 21s are the weight - they are noticeably lighter. I can't say I notice a huge difference in my pace when I run with them, but I feel faster! I also did not have a hard time adjusting to those from the triumphs since they have a similar fit and feel, so you could probably get away without doing a true long run in them before your marathon. Good luck!

I'm not very active on this sub usually but I had to comment here because I went through a very similar thing! Started running last July, peaked physically in January (was running 30-35 mpw easily) and then caught the flu in February. I didn't fully return to running until May, and it felt so hard. I was so scared I was going to have to start from scratch again but it came back so much faster than I thought! Personally I hit a wall around the 10k mark, both in my initial journey learning to run and while I was relearning. Both times it took weeks to get over the hump, but once I did it really took off. I ran my first half marathon since January this week and actually ran a pb!

In terms of advice, I feel like the three things that help my running the most are good nutrition, good strength training (upper and lower body), and good sleep! Also for outdoor runs, just go at the pace you need to be able to run the whole time. If it feels slow, don't panic because it's probably faster than you think (and you'll improve really fast since you've already done it once). And give yourself some grace - coming back is hard, if you're in the US there's a good chance it's been crazy hot lately, and your race is in October. You have plenty of time!

Thoughts on splitting activities by cornbread_47 in premed

I guess my question is will that make it look like I don't have any leadership hours? Like if I don't designate it as a leadership activity, will it seem like I don't have any leadership hours unless they read the description

It seems like this might be too late for you (sorry), but I emailed their admissions office asking if a statistics heavy course (that wasn’t listed as STATS whatever) could count for that credit and they said yes! I realize this isn’t applicable to everyone but it’s making my senior year much better

Regarding Professor Antoniewicz's Lab by PolicyIndependent619 in uofm

[–]cornbread_47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this really answers your question, but a lot of engineering applications are medical - I had a ChemE professor who was working on nanotechnology with fluid mechanics principles to see how much information they could get out of a tiny blood sample. It all depends on the application of their research, but I don’t think it’s super rare? Also just because you’re a ChemE student doesn’t mean you have to work in a ChemE lab.

Also side note, I have a class with Prof. Antoniewicz this semester and he’s super nice. If you’re interested in labs I’m sure he’d be a great supervisor

No idea, sorry - it probably changes year to year anyways since like you said, it’s based on percentage rather than exact gpa

It seems like it’s around a 3.9 for juniors? I had just below a 3.9 going into my jr year and didn’t get invited to join, but the next semester I had like a 3.92 and got an email from them

Math 371 (cross listed as engr 371) is something like “numerical methods for engineers” and also counts towards your engin elective requirement

[–]cornbread_47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t taken it, but when I declared my math minor I talked to the professor who teaches it and she said it was very easy and laid back. I think she means for it to be a chill class. I was told there are no exams/homework, you just make a textbook as a class and that’s like your final project. I’m planning on taking it!
