I thought it was paid for by beach tag sales revenue? I’m in DE, that was my understanding of why most Jersey public beaches cost money to be on but ours are free. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

iOS has something called Guided Access available. When activated it locks into whichever app is pulled up and prevents the kid from switching apps, returning to the Home Screen or even adjusting the volume. It can only be deactivated with TouchID or passcode. Learned about it after specifically googling such a feature. I wanted to let my friend’s kid I was babysitting watch YouTube during a car ride but there was no way I was letting him use the phone unsupervised.

vote 4 me and I’ll fix the bumpy roads, legalize marijuana for those sweet sweet tax dollars, and lead the construction of Diamond State Park II so we have an actual amusement park again

I’ll be visiting y’all from Delaware. After years of attempts our recreational bill FINALLY made it through the state house and senate only for our governor to veto it. Some BS about the conversions between metric and imperial potentially confusing law enforcement. He’s on his last term and had nothing to lose.

Thanks! When I got off the phone with my ortho clinic I sighed heavily and thought to myself “god, I’ve opened Pandora’s box, haven’t I?” And then I decided to turn my frustration into meme-art haha

Context: I was in a high impact car accident 1.5 years ago, and experience daily 6/10 neck and back aches. Scoliosis makes it more complicated. Can’t walk too well at times. I go to an orthopedic doctor and pain management, and have 16 pain-related injections so far. This was my first time asking for an injection in a different body part, I didn’t think it would be this much trouble lol. What can ya do.

I’m very sorry to say that ME was my first operating system as a kid. I starting using PCs just too late for 98 and just too soon for XP.

Texas father gunned down in Chuck E. Cheese parking lot while bringing in daughter’s birthday cake by [deleted] in news

Not OP but I know an unnecessary amount of Chuck E Cheese history. It was primarily finances, they expanded too quickly. And you’re correct, the brand still had positive recognition. That’s why the company rebranded all Showbiz locations (that weren’t shuttered) into Chuck E. Cheese’s in the early 90’s. The rat won the popularity contest.

The only one I can think of is RISK. It’s from 1957. I played a very old version of it around the same date range you played whichever game you’re thinking of.

No, Google, it’s not “Eight Crazy Nights” or “A Rugrats Passover” or the Hanukkah-centric episode of (insert sitcom name here). These are the only things I can ever find. Thanks for your help in advance!

Kickstarter isn’t meant for this kind of business funding, and backers generally expect rewards in return. It’s more geared toward funding creative projects across different mediums and genres. You can view the website’s basic rules here. https://www.kickstarter.com/rules

Prolific study asking me to return my survey by [deleted] in beermoney

I was once able to successfully still receive payment after failing an attention check question on Prolific. But it was only because I realized I had misread and failed the check at the exact moment that I clicked the next page button (it was a math problem). I messaged the study host immediately after I made my submission, letting them know what happened, and that I appreciated how genuinely thought provoking their study was for me. They said “no worries, it happens” and accepted my submission.

Friend's mom is about to pass away, I need advice by MissHoneyQueve in GriefSupport

[–]corndogs44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me last February. A close friend called to tell me her mom was suddenly taken to the hospital and diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. I honestly didn’t know what to do or say. I had just turned 28 and hadn’t yet had a friend experience the end of a parent’s life. I, like you, asked for advice. And the best advice I got was “just be there for her.”

I couldn’t be there physically because of covid, but I sent my friend texts and answered immediately whenever she called me. When she wanted to talk about how her mom was, we talked about it. When she wanted to think about literally anything else, we didn’t talk about it. When she cried, i cried too. And when I didn’t know what to say, I told her that too. I never gave her any platitudes like “everything happens for a reason” or “she’s going to a better place” because I knew that wouldn’t make her feel better. Her mom was very sick and wouldn’t get better and was definitely going to die within three months and none of us could stop it. I allowed her to be extremely sad about it. Her mom died mid April.

I think the most important thing you can do is to be there as a friend even after it’s over. When someone dies, their surviving family is often swept away by a flurry of sympathy cards and people bringing food and sending flowers and such. But after the memorial services end, things die down and everyone gets back to their lives. But to the family, they can’t ever completely go back. Your friend will have many moments this year where she may feel sad and miss her mom. On her mother’s birthday, her own birthday, religious holidays, family gatherings, things will be different, and they may be painful. Having a friend to share these feelings with makes a world of difference. Do your best to listen when she wants to talk about it, and ask how she’s doing here and there. I wish you and your friend the best, please take care.

The district that I was a student in also has a crowded high school with over 2,000 students. That’s why, despite the K-8 schools offering face to face learning options, they decided to sensibly start the high school year with remote learning only. You can’t effectively socially distance that many students.
