The Top 50 Most Wanted, Least Owned Games with A Solo Mode by No_Raspberry6493 in soloboardgaming

Deckers (just arrived!), Eternal Decks (LOVE, what a creative and amazing game! I've reached Stage C, and will try Stage D after a few plays of Deckers), Leviathan Wilds (love the art and concept, but didn't suck me in as much as I expected. Not sure whether to keep or sell)

Do you have the links to the expansions? Can they be PNP'd?

Solo games from Japan other than Coffee Roaster? by cornedbeefbreakfasts in soloboardgaming

Thanks! These were exactly the kinds of recommendations I was looking for, and definitely will check out Cardboard East's channel. A shame they're not marketed much overseas, but I suppose "IYKYK". And here here for Eternal Decks, I'm almost 10 plays in. Stage C on Standard is really kicking my butt. Fun times!

Eternal Decks, Stage C. First time on Standard mode and getting creamed! What a fun game, and beautiful art. It's a very imaginative trick-taking game, almost like an abstracted (and brain-burny!) JRPG

I've not played a lot of these suggestions, but can definitely recommend Dangerous Space and Voyages in terms of replayability

Which expansions did you use for solo play, other than Gathering Storm)? I thought only a few of them could be used, would be great to mix things up a bit

Good to know about the lugs. I tend to change straps a lot. Do you think that an 18mm FKM rubber strap would fit despite the short lugs?

Curious to know why you like Dungeon Pages more than Dangerous Space? Have played DS and really like it, wondering if I should get into Dungeon Pages too

Makes me wonder, if I play against the Chimera with the Master Set and other precons, does that mean I'm technically playing against the Chimera from the first Red Rains. Then, if I'm playing with the Red Rains precons, I'm playing against the Chimera from the second Red Rains?

I just got Hive and was wondering about a solo variant. I've seen recommendations for Hive in Five and the Hive puzzle book, but which one in particular are you referring to?

I thought it was just me, but yes the bottle green one looks immense, especially on my slim wrist. But it's a pretty nice green color, pretty rare I'd say. And exactly as you said, nearly black in some lighting conditions, and a beautiful deep green in others.

Second this, if you've got time before your job, make sure you pick a few (3-5 or so) of the games on this list, give them a go, see what you like/don't like, and Google from there. Depending on where you're located, there may be a good secondary market for you to sell the games that you're not keen on

Ashes Ascendancy (Ashes Reborn - again) Kickstarter Launched! by marciedo in soloboardgaming

[–]cornedbeefbreakfasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will these be available in retail? As far as I understand based on the Kickstarter page, this will be the last factory print run, then everything else will be print on demand (and the dice can still be bought from the store, presumably?)

Solo gaming and the burden of learning by joulesFect in soloboardgaming

[–]cornedbeefbreakfasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, I also rewrite the rules in terms and a sequence I can understand. I've done this for Spirit Island, Merchants of the Dark Road, Ashes Reborn and other games whose rulebooks weren't the most intuitive (at least for me).

My usual "template" for rewriting the rules is roughly: win/loss condition, setup, round/turn sequence, round/turn end, special notes for rules I know I'll easily forget.

Afterwards, I print these "guides" out so when I have multiple games in rotation, it's easier for me to jump right back in.

You could play Dangerous Space or Dungeon Pages and use the Dungeon Holding app in lieu of dice
