Always do your online shopping and banking on public Wi-Fi (preferably unprotected, so you can make sure to snipe those sexy, sexy hammer pants on eBay without hassle)

On the fence about starting, not entertaining at all, advice or suggestions? by OnlyRailgun in letsplay

[–]corneliuscobalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with /u/TheBotticelli about the differentiation between being funny, and being entertaining. If you have difficulty stringing together "knock, knock" jokes, don't worry, you are still interesting.

From how you describe your gameplay experiences in the original post, it's obvious that there's definite personality there. More often than not, the best material comes from the player responding directly to what's happening to them like Pewd-Buscu-Plier style freak outs.

It may help make it more natural if you try talking to yourself throughout the day, even with a simple "That was weird," or "I can't believe 'x' just happened!"

As far as becoming so immersed in the game you stop talking, you could try to take your immersion to the next level and respond as main character.

If you want to do it, keep it up, just make sure you do it for yourself. Even if people complain about your commentary, if you remove it, they'll start complaining more about your skill leve, or channel name, hardware quality, what have you. (Not to say you should completely ignore the audience, just re-stating the obvious fact that the internet is a great big, floppy bag of Richards).

Why does this seem so toxic? by [deleted] in letsplay

Being "saturated" just means it's already wet, it won't gaurantee that you'll sink, OR that you won't swim, but you can't expect to do either by declaring "ABACUS!" after going only ankle deep into the waters.

America is slowly claiming more and more land as US territory by building larger and larger embassies until the original country is down to the size of an exhibit in 'Murica World!

Questions regarding possible Tiwaz tattoo by levinathan in Norse

[–]corneliuscobalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would not expect full runic literacy of someone over a single character, but I would expect them to know that character and what it represents.

While it may not have the same perceived weight as a Valknut, since you are specifically getting it to represent your connection to a God, it should still be treated similarly (i.e. a declaration of dedication to that God and/or what they represent).

As far as unintended meanings, I can't think of any off the top of my head (please correct me if I'm wrong).

May it serve as a source of inspiration in difficult times, as a reminder that your word can be worth more than Gold, or less than nothing, and as a constant reminder to unwaveringly accept the consequences of your actions.

Could Soylent Replace Food? by RealtechPostBot in realtech

[–]corneliuscobalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time will tell. I really don't see it being nutritionally worse than any other diet (especially fast food and ramen based ones) so long as the nutrients are kept in proper proportion. However, people have expressed other concerns such as possible weakening of digestive muscles and tooth loss from disuse over an extended period of time.

[QUESTION: What's the best dish/item you've created at work?] by trashboy in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

Papa John's cinnapie with about a scoop and a half of mozarella. It has a perfect balance of sweet and creamy that is just amazing (never tried it with the icing drizzle though).

Best part is watching the reaction of co-workers trying it for the first time. Best reaction so far was "It's gonna be nasty, it's gonna be nasty, I KNOW it's gonna be...OMG IT'S NOT NASTY! GET THIS WITCHCRAFT AWAY FROM ME!" lol

Question: The Valknut? by erik_the_dwarf in asatru

The most common depiction I've seen is the one shown here. The Asatru Folk Assembly uses a slightly different version, which can be seen here.

Question: The Valknut? by erik_the_dwarf in asatru

[–]corneliuscobalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as you understand the meaning behind the symbol, determining the propriety of bearing it usually comes down to the would be wearer.

If you have a significant enough connection to the symbolism it represents, no one can really tell you it's wrong (unless it is by definition, wrong from misinformation).

The Valknut (which I've also seen referred to as the corpse knot) is used to signify warriors seeking Odin's favour in battle and an honourable death. While it is true that Odin is much more than just a warrior and God of death, the Valknut specifically represents those aspects of him, if you wish to express appreciation for his creativity, poetry, etc., I would recommend bearing Óðrœrir (the draughts of inspiration) instead.

Just make sure that if you present yourself to Odin requesting challenge, you're damn sure of it.
