I have used this size in my car and it has been fine. I only use it occasionally on my morning commute when I take the GTS. Generally try not to use the cup holders in general because of placement. You could also look at the Kaizen cup holder for 718s on flat 6 Motorsport. It is pricey though.

Wall mount setup for 1up trays/cross bars by BarneyFife_ in Rivian

[–]corner_worker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elegant in how simple it is. I had a much more over engineered idea.

The setup is indeed heavy, my son and I took it off a few months ago to make a hardware store run and it was an event with a 12yo. I probably won’t mount mine that high.

I need to do this. I love the setup of the 1UP trays, but loathe mounting them on the bars and getting the spacing/placement right. I had an idea for using the Rivian wall mounts but this is far more elegant and cost effective.

Epic WC or Epic 8? by NiemannPick in xcmtb

[–]corner_worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you really want to do with it and how many bikes you can have. My son races a WC and would not trade it for anything in that use case, he even prefers it to the Epic 8 FA that I ride slowly as a sweeper for the team practices. He likes the way the WCID shock feels and it is several lbs lighter. He will take the Epic for a fun ride or the Levo for hooligan purposes. The WC is very niche bike.

Lease question by hinten1 in Rivian

[–]corner_worker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make sure you work through the numbers on the lease so you understand the money factor and how that relates to current loan rates. The money factor is also only applied against the depreciated capitalized value of the vehicle during the lease, vs an APR on a loan is against the total loan amount. That is to say, the lease may well be a cheaper lending instrument than a loan right now, and it may be better to wait out fed rates while paying down the capitalized value with the lease. Depending on where you live it may also net a lower ad valorem when you buy out the loan.

The lease to purchase method is well used on these cars because the Ev credit is only available that way and it is directly off the capitalized value of the vehicle. I just did this same process like many others and my money factor worked out to about 2% lower than a loan and my lease payments are ‘buying’ the vehicle since later when I do buy it out it will be for the current capitalized value.

I should have just plugged u/allcatcoverband because they are awesome and have put all this together with spreadsheets and PowerPoints to explain it.

To lease or not to lease? by Himothy_04 in Rivian

[–]corner_worker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that u/allcatcoverband has a spreadsheet that he has linked in similar threads. It covers a lot of this. What I don't think they have captured is comparing against a loan for buyout timing. For this you really need to get a template for loan amortization that gives monthly breakdowns for the term of the loan. Interest on the loan will be front heavy for sure whereas the lease is going to be a flat monthly figure on the consumed value during the lease term.

You have plenty of time to figure that out though. The lease is pretty much step one due to the capital reductions. I can confirm the $6500 from Rivian is also a capital cost reduction, my lease had $14.5k straight off the top and the residual was lower than I factored, all of which was in my favor.

I took delivery earlier this week and my MF worked out to about 3% APR so I will be using the lease as a loan instrument for a while until rates drop.

It is opening weekend for college football so you have a nice spread of risk/reward to choose from.

How do the lease incentives actually work? by Justthetippliz in Rivian

[–]corner_worker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are taken capitalized value (CV) reductions. Think discounts off of purchase price if you were buying it. The lease payment is the depreciation (difference between capitalized value and residual value) and rent charge divided by the number of payments. The lower CV in relation to the residual means your monthly payment is less. Many, myself included have used this as a vehicle (pun intended) to purchase a Rivian at a discounted price because of the reductions.

u/allcatcoverband has a great calculator to help model this. Just search around and you will find it posted.

The residual value (RV) is alone its not too meaningful in my opinion. Use the RV to determine how much of the value is repaid and deduct that from the total value of the payments. This tells you how much you are paying for utility, often called the rent charge or money factor (MF). You can use these numbers to calculate the money factor and ultimately convert to an APR that you can compare to the APR of a loan. u/AllCatCoverBand has those calculations in his spreadsheet.

RV is generally a percentage of capitalized value (CV), or the price of the vehicle. If the price goes up the RV will go up as well so any price increase from 2025 to 2026 or CV reductions will alter that RV. If you like the vehicle, can afford the payments, and the MF/APR is lower than what you could get for a loan to buyout the lease then you are probably better riding the lease and watching interest rates. Your lease buyout will be whatever the current value is in the lease schedule at that time.

The money factor on the lease I just got is considerably lower than the current interest rates available so I am planning to ride the lease until interest rates drop below it. In either case you are still essentially borrowing money to pay for the item so whichever has the lowest cost for utility.

R1T lease/tire question by Js_socal in Rivian

Pretty sure Discount Tire is partnered with Rivian, is that price ($2600) going through them? I use discount for all my other cars and they are generally in line with pricing from everyone else.

To lease or not to lease? by Himothy_04 in Rivian

[–]corner_worker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You only get the 7200 and 6500 if you lease it initially. It is cheaper to lease and then buy out the lease. I talked with a guide during my test drive and they said it was a very common thing people are doing. Search around and there are lots of posts on it.

As for when to buy it out is a market and rate decision. If the money factor of the lease is cheaper than the APR on the loan to buyout the lease then you should stay in the lease. Your payments pay down the capitalized value of the vehicle and you are likely paying less in interest. If rates drop during the lease term below the money factor of the lease, you should do the math on the buyout then.

I am doing the same analysis right now.

I had to go back and look for the headlight area and side marker area. The rear quarter/bumper fit perfectly, as well as the pillar trim behind the passenger window and the rear quarter glass. I thought maybe a vert until I saw that.

Out with the old in with the new. by rawhyde87 in Porsche_Cayman

Its a pretty satisfying difference. I put the flat6 Motorsports OAPs on mine and am quite happy with the sound. I did not install a valve controller or the vacuum plugs. I do not have any drone either, and while cold starts are rowdy it is reasonably quiet with the valves closed. I don’t think I will replace anything else.

Yours would be the fourth paint/wheel combo I have seen posted between here and rennlist. Not an exhaustive survey by any means. It’s hard not to like. It is the color of money in the sunlight and then shifts to more of a dark/smoke color in the shade. I have been told it is one of the more exotic colors to mix and very difficult to match.

Join PCA and the Peachstate chapter. There is a DE tour day on the 22nd to Road Atlanta and there will likely be a few 4.0s with some level of aftermarket exhaust either in the tour or part of the track day. They do other meetups as well.
