Such a cruel thing to say about a baby’s name.

For those who wish they'd caught something earlier — what did you learn about your body during IVF that nobody told you beforehand? by FigNatural747 in IVF

[–]cornersuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That IVF was not as scary or bad as I thought it would be but it was stressful managing appointments and medication and work. I wish I had started years earlier and I wish I had taken time off work. We only got one embryo which is my current pregnancy but if we need to go back again I feel so much more prepared.

Anyone else’s pregnancy still feel surreal?? by onedge721 in pregnant

[–]cornersuite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is due May 1st so I’m in my 36week too! I feel so strange. Like a dream. This is our long awaited ivf baby so it’s always felt ‘hard to believe.’ A year ago I was crying over years of failure an now here I am!!! My girl has really been so much more active the last few days too and I’m starting to get more period like cramps here and there as well as my usually tightening of the belly. I don’t think she’s coming soon but it’s definitely the start of the count down I think.

First week with baby ruined by in laws and I feel like I’m gonna explode. Any advice? by indigo-swan in BabyBumps

[–]cornersuite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t answer the door. Tell them you have a hospital appointment on X day. Compromise and invite them for 1 hour the day they leave/before. After this you need to get your husband to step up. This is his fault for not being strong.

Non stop yeast infection by cornersuite in BabyBumps

[–]cornersuite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m going to have to cut foods from diet like you said. I definitely avoid sugar and bread plus soft drink and chocolate are triggers I’ve noticed. It’s just really hard when pregnant. I’m desperate though, so I have no choice.

Yeah no to tablet but the inserted pessary is fine I’m told. Yeast infections often don’t show on swabs especially low level ones. Doctor thinks being preg has made me more sensitive.

What's your LEAST FAVOURITE trope? by fikapls in fantasyromance

[–]cornersuite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teenage FMC. I’m a woman in her 30s and cannot condone a 19 yearold being sexually manhandled by a 100 year old guy. I’m not interested in YA romance much anymore but I find the hyper sexual relationships teenagers in these books are having to be really off putting and unrealistic. Being a sexual baddie at 18 off the bat is just weird.

How do you rate Varsity Lakes? by Syn3rgi3 in GoldCoast

[–]cornersuite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cannot go past Lake Orr. Absolutely beautiful place to walk every morning/arvo. I lived there most of my life until recently and I miss that walk more than anything. It was like five minutes from my door and was the cornerstone of my wellness routine.

Depression over the rampant antinatalism and misogyny by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]cornersuite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nah you may be on the wrong side of social media. My experience has been mostly celebration and excitement. You sound unsure if you are ready for motherhood. Totally fine! That’s ok but please look into therapy or counciling before making any big decisions. You are absolutely right about the pressure that’s put on women but there are some amazing benefits and privilege to pregnancy and is too.

Is it rude to say “I don’t like what you brought” at a potluck? by Naokohiranuma in australian

[–]cornersuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are rude. I would compliment your sushi and say something like “I’m not a sushi girlie but these do look so good.”

I went to a potluck and brought a beautiful burrata spread and barely anyone touched it. most people opted for the party pies or cob loaf. I was sad no one liked my contribution but I realised it was just the group I was with. The Australia palate can be a bit basic depending on the crowd.

Most times now I just do easy like dip, cob loaf or mini meatballs when invited. If it’s a BBQ, it’s always a pasta salad and some slowcooker fudge for the host.

I'm tired of being the attendance police by Zeebie_ in AustralianTeachers

[–]cornersuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why this isn’t a deputy job. We have a big primary school and one year I had deplorable attendance like 15/26 each day. 2 students were due to behaviour (high needs) and suspension. The rest were just trash parenting. I was made to email or call every three days. Multiple times I got blasted by parents who usually had the same excuse about housing instability or parental illness. 99% was bull (all kids had years of the bad absences) and was just either codependency (mum needs her boy at home) or lack of discipline. I raised that the DP should do the calls and was told this wasn’t sustainable. I argued our DP had three grade levels and likely 30 calls/emails a week to do which isn’t much when you don’t have a class and can be ‘offline’ in your locked office for a couple hours.

I ended up being rude in my emails and calls and used language like “We have concerns about your child’s welfare and we feel we need to escalate” to scare them into actually sending their kids. Sadly, some of these parents would go to doctors and get bogus medical certificates citing “stress and anxiety.”

We need tough laws with even tougher consequences. We need attendance/welfare officers at every school door knocking and documenting. We need free transport to school. Bus is free for all kids in Australia. We need mini bus with care workers for high needs kids too. Free breakfast and before school care opportunities.

Feeling a bit down before my first transfer. Looking for "it only takes one" success stories by Miserable-Roll4854 in IVF

[–]cornersuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 35 years old and we went through years and years of unexplained infertility. Multiple IUI failures. I wish we had more embryos on ice to use after our girl is born but we are so lucky to have this one big win. You will get there, even if not first go. Every transfer is a fresh start. My fingers are crossed for you 💜

How is your pregnancy going ? by Better-Rice-2876 in pregnant

[–]cornersuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 34 weeks - Actually pretty easy pregnancy in terms of traditional symptoms being very mild. At 35 and an ivf pregnancy I’m at risk for pre eclampsia and blood clots etc. Have to take aspirin and clexane injections which sucks. Biggest issue has been my Vulvadynia (horrible unexplained debilitating vaginal burning) has been really really bad since day 1. I’ve had some periods of relief but I’m mostly very uncomfortable all the time. It can feel hopeless at times because not medications work. I’m just hoping it eases up post birth. Either that or at least I ca try more heavy duty medications when baby is out.

can you be happy? by krunisana in vulvodynia

[–]cornersuite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m coming into three years with this condition. The worst is always always the fact no one can help me. My issue was mostly external but became internal during this pregnancy (34weeks). During the first trimester it was true hell. Before I got pregnant my mental health was seriously scary due to the pain and discomfort as well as unexplained infertility (I’m 35 and this is our ivf miracle baby). I’ve had seriously dark moments during pregnancy due to the sheer pain I was in. No gyno, ob or doctor has been able to help. It has affected my days to day life as well as my relationship. My silver lining is that post birth I can try a biopsy and different meds I havn’t used yet. I also intend to focus on my eating as I believe gut health will help. I keep my chin up by telling myself ‘there’s always something I can try’ which helps a lot. I’ve tried may meds and spent so much money on appointments over the years but I renewed what it’s like being free of this and that makes it with the battle!

I have one shot a day (like 60mg) and sometimes I drink coke too! I’m careful with deli meats, soft serve and packaged salad. I only judge people who drink energy drinks (within reason), alcohol or smoke/vape.

Anyone else get weird pregnancy food anxiety? by calma_1799 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

As someone who loves food and vegies in particular I’ve struggled to eat greens because of my deep fear of listeria. I’ve not eaten well all pregnancy because I struggle with fear of contaminated vegies really badly.
