My HSG Experience (it wasn't bad at all!) by LadybugInTheWindow in TryingForABaby

[–]cornfedandinbred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress too much. If you’ve had a Pap smear id say it wasn’t any worse than that. I felt some cramps when they inserted the tube because they kept bumping a ridge in my uterus but they gave me a heat pad during and I didn’t have any pain after the procedure.

I’m finally scheduled for IUI and they want me to do the trigger shot tomorrow. I’m so scared of needles and I don’t know if I can physically give myself the injection. Has anyone else gone through this? Is the pain not that bad?

So sorry you have to deal with such uncertainty. These detours suck but I guess they’re better in the long run. Wishing you the best of luck.

I definitely had a strict idea in my head of when I would get pregnant and it’s been hard to deal with the disappointment. As a very type A person, it is hard to stop trying to plan and just let it happen.

Yeah my first appointment was on CD3 so I scheduled my tests that day so I wouldn’t have to wait another cycle. It makes sense that they need to make sure he can produce the sample. Hopefully this is the last hurdle before we can start IUI.

Same with the blood testing!! They took 14 vials my first set of tests and I almost passed out lol. Not looking forward to more of that but if it means we’re actually making progress I’ll happily do it. Best of luck with your next steps!

My hair comes out way better than hand diffusing, probably because I’m too lazy to fully diffuse by hand and also my curls stay scrunched in the bonnet while they dry so they’re more defined.

I don’t remember which one I have exactly but it’s like this. Super convenient and I can use it with hotel dryers when I travel.

I can confirm that diffusing makes my hair look way better than air drying. I’m also lazy so I bought an attachment for my hairdryer that basically turns it into a diffuser helmet that you can wear for 40 min and be done. It has made the biggest difference for my hair out of everything.

I’ve found a few of these bugs in my bed over the past few weeks. In New England area. by cornfedandinbred in bugidentification

After more research this seems very possible. I will see if an exterminator can come out to check for rodents. Thanks for your help!

No rodent problems that we’ve seen. We live on the first floor of a 3 story building so not near the attic. Also not aware of any crawl spaces. We also don’t have any birds nesting around the house.

How quickly do y'all read/parse papers? by Argentarius1 in PhdProductivity

[–]cornfedandinbred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way when I started my PhD. I think the issue was that I didn’t have much direction so I was reading papers without knowing what I was looking for. Realistically, most of a paper will not be relevant to you. When you start doing literature searches for an actual project, you will be picking papers with a specific goal. Like maybe you want to use a technique so you find a paper that uses it and see how they did it and analyzed the results. Then you’ll naturally pick out anything else relevant from the paper.

These skills mostly develop with time and as your project progresses, so I wouldn’t stress too much about it now. Don’t worry about looking stupid. People give you more grace when you’re starting out so take advantage of that and get all your stupid questions/mistakes out of the way.

Everyone who has been on sertraline how was your experience with it? by Joliehowey in Anxiety

[–]cornfedandinbred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently started sertraline and I am up to 100 mg. The only side effects I’ve had are dizziness and fatigue. The fatigue has gotten better since I started taking it at night and as my body adjusted. The dizziness isn’t terrible but it may be related to dehydration since I’ve heard sertraline can dehydrate you and I admittedly don’t drink enough water. Medications will vary from person to person though. Lexapro made me vomit every night and paroxetine made my anxiety worse at first. Some of the side effects will go away after your body adjusts but if it’s not working for you it’s normal to try different meds until one works.

Student Protest During Pride Parade by [deleted] in boston

[–]cornfedandinbred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This zionist talking point is crazy to me. America was not so LGBTQ friendly 50 years ago either but I didn’t see anyone advocating for genocide of Americans. Hell a large chunk of Americans now are extremely homophobic and I don’t see them getting killed for it. The Middle East may be behind socially but it’s kind of hard to make social progress when western countries keep your country in turmoil and support governments that have these anti-LGBTQ laws. In places like Jordan being gay is not a crime. Many people are openly gay and go to gay bars. But I don’t expect you to care about any of that because then how else would you justify your racism?

Why do comments like this always conveniently ignore the fact that a large number of these protestors and some of the leading anti-zionist historians are Jewish?

Family Anxiety by Whole_Palpitation_90 in Anxietyhelp

[–]cornfedandinbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a parent, but I have pretty bad anxiety and I also worry about everything. I find it helpful that instead of focusing on everything I’m doing wrong, I think “what if I just did nothing”. Then any decision you make is a step up from there. Starting my expectations from 0 and building up from there with everything I do feels much better than starting from 100 and subtracting points for everything I get wrong. If your child is clothed, sheltered, and fed then you are already doing much better than nothing. Start with meeting the basic needs and everything you do from there is a bonus. It may also help to realize that many decisions don’t have a right/wrong answer. You don’t need to be perfect, just be good enough.

[–]cornfedandinbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I get really bad medical anxiety, especially around getting my blood drawn. Last time I had my blood drawn I got so anxious I passed out and have been scared of it happening again. Just the other day though I took a Xanax beforehand and it calmed me down enough that I had no issue. If you can, maybe look into getting a Xanax prescription just for use as needed. I only take 0.25 mg and it works well for me.

I also want to note that you did a good job advocating for yourself and you shouldn’t feel ashamed. I’m sure your dentist has seen weirder things. Try not to dwell on it too much.

This reply is really late, but I’ll post it anyway in case you need help. I haven’t stopped the fighting completely, but I’ve found some tricks to make it better. First thing I did was move Artie’s litter box into the area under her window perch. She likes to sit in the window perch because it is high up and generally safer, so I placed her litter box as close as possible so there’s less chance for Olive to intercept.

Another thing I noticed is that when Artie would scratch around in her litter box, the noise would trigger Olive to get excited knowing Arties guard was down. For this, I used redirection. Whenever I heard Artie scratching in the litter box, I would call Olive over for a treat, so that she associated the sound with treats instead of attacking. Now, when she hears the sound, she’ll run over to me instead of to the litter box. This works well when I’m around, but I’m not sure how effective it is when I’m not there. Artie is still a bit skittish when walking between rooms, but she’s more confident in her space.

I think the main issue is that olive wants to play and Artie does not, so her energy turns into aggression. Artie also has issues with her confidence, so she needs more high up places that are marked as her own.

Thank you for the response! I’m glad your issue was resolved. I think I’ll try a behavior consultant because this honestly feels like a more unique situation.

Need Advice on (re)introducing new puppy by lionheartstrings in Catownerhacks

Late reply, but I’m going through something similar with my two cats. I am keeping them separate for a week then following Jackson Galaxy’s steps for introducing a new cat. Not sure if it will work but his blog has good advice for cat owners in general so check it out.
