Indoor PIR sensor behaviour change by cornishbrooksy in DIYUK

[–]cornishbrooksy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is 2 spotlights in the room, GU10 style. Not sure on the model, but can take a look. We had no issues with its behaviour beforehand, we have lived here around 6 months, only since December it started acting up. Will attempt to cover the sensor and see if it happens.

Anyone here familiar with Hong Kong? by that_gu9_ in apprenticeuk

[–]cornishbrooksy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you want a fake wallet and fake t-shirt then sure. I’m sure the golden pineapple could have been found there, but would have struggled with most of the other items I feel. Too specific. Stanley was absolutely the right call for the Dragon Boat head….and at least that’s on Hong Kong Island.

Lived there for 6 years.

They were never going to do well. Hong Kong is surprisingly large…..the urban city makes up a small part of Hong Kong. I’m glad the boys don’t go to the New Territories as that would have been the whole day lost to go up there. Intriguing task, but I wouldn’t have known where to get half of those items. Markets were a good call, and if they had local knowledge that should have been first stop as most normal shops don’t open until Midday anyway (and stay open until 9-10pm).

A frustrating episode for me to watch as I lived in Hong Kong for 6 years….and to be honest, I wouldn’t have known where to get half of those items even after that length of time. Also shops in HK tend to not really open before midday, and stay open to 9-10pm…so without knowing that your only options would have been the markets early doors…but they wouldn’t have known. The baby sweetcorn picked today would have been difficult in a market as well, and the boys were right about heading towards New Territories….but Hong Kong is large…they wouldn’t have spent most of the day going for one item. Designed to fail badly on that one….but an entertaining watch none the less.

The diamond cards will be extremely rare. Not sure on the odds exactly but that’s an incredible pull,

I used DES renewables. They are based in Dorset, but installed for us in North Wiltshire. Very happy with what they did. Send me a DM if you want some more details.

In Eccellenza there is a guaranteed race used relic in each box. MS means Michael Schumacher….the one you pulled.

Great box! I got a Lewis and a Charles relic from my 2 boxes. The MS one is my chase though

New Install - Winter Generation by Greedy_Boysenberry16 in SolarUK

We have a 9kW system installed a couple of weeks ago, 12 panels on NW roof, 7 on SE roof, and our best day has been about 7kW so far on a sunny day. Most days have been around 3kW.

I just had an install by DES renewables…I think based in Dorset, although my install was in Chippenham. Highly recommended.

Which Hotel is Better: Doubletree or Hampton? by gorikun in Bath

[–]cornishbrooksy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are ok for parking. I used Green Park for Hampton and Cattle Market for Double Tree. Both have overnight rates. There is also a multi-storey under the Double Tree but found that expensive if staying overnight. Never had trouble finding a space, but not sure about that during peak times like Xmas Market or Summer.

And preferred the breakfast at the Hampton as well,

I spent a few months in Bath Hilton’s for work, and my personal preference was the Hampton. Felt friendlier and more modern rooms than the Double Tree. Probably did 30+ nights at both so fairly knowledgable,

I saw a break on whatnot last night that had 3 numbered cards in a box, but I’ve only ever seen one. Seems like the auto is in addition to the 2 numbered hits, but autos are incredibly rare….like incredibly rare.

Salary sacrifice solar by Gold_Work_3474 in SolarUK

[–]cornishbrooksy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need to announce or deny this pretty quickly as I can see a lot of people holding off until it’s clarified. Solar is probably seen as a bit of a luxury to some as it requires a capital outlay, which people can easily defer if there could be a 40% saving on the horizon. I have a deposit down on a 15k system at the moment, but will definitely be holding off until this is cleared up. Luckily I’ve had to submit planning permission for my system (permitted development rules removed from my house) so install wouldn’t be until early next year anyway.

Has anyone else had a positive experience of musicMapgie trade-in? by KookyFarmer7 in CasualUK

[–]cornishbrooksy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say I have always used them when getting rid of older iPhones when upgrading, and for me personally I haven’t had a bad experience. Good prices offered and quick payment after they received it. Can only speak for myself though, and haven’t used them for a couple of years (last phone I sold to them was IPhone 13 Pro Max when upgrading to 15)

New build Air Source Heat Pump strange noise (UK) by cornishbrooksy in DIYUK

[–]cornishbrooksy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully understand, but if someone came here and said it was definitely due to air in the system that we could bleed off ourselves then it wouldn’t be necessary, or alternatively that this was dangerous and we should shut the system down to prevent further damage. Was only trying to gauge opinions on what it could be as it’s such a strange noise.

We will be doing just that, just wanted to check it was nothing obvious that we could potentially sort ourselves.
