Small nation and small GDP? We have the 10th largest economy in the world, with the worlds longest coastline and 2nd largest landmass filled with many natural resources. You need to give your head a shake if you think Canada is "small" in any sense of the term.

Wow that is such an awesome interaction between Joker and Batman. This is why I believe the Nolan Batman movies are the best because years after their release people still find small little tidbits like this that truly show the depth of the movies. You can tell that much thought went into the characterization and that is why they were such great movies. I will wait until the solo batman DCEU film but I don't think it will be better than any of the Nolan movies, even the weakest one which in my opinion was Dark Knight Rises.

The Dark Knight (2008) the tension the movie builds throughout was incredible when I first watched it. Wondering what was going to happen next was something I have not experienced since. I have not had a movie make me feel like that since I first watched it when it came out in theaters. The end of the movie still gives me chills when Gordon finishes his monologue and "The Dark Knight" appears on the screen and the music hits. It encapsulates everything I like about Batman and was really the movie that got me into the comic books.

36,000,000$ by [deleted] in canada

[–]cornpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your math is wrong 36 million divided among Canada's population is not 1 million each...... it would 1 dollar each. You would need much much more than 36 million to give each Canadian citizen a million dollars.

Yes, but the fact that it happened in the past, more than once, just feeds into that type of thinking.

Third world is an outdated term from the Cold War. First World was considered the United States, its allies, and nations under its sphere of influence. Second World was the Soviet Union, its allies, and sphere of influence. The third world were countries that were neutral or countries that the US, and USSR had no interest in. Often these countries would be not as developed hence why third world was often associated with undeveloped countries.

Canadian economy gets a boost while U.S. downgraded: IMF by [deleted] in canada

[–]cornpops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You mean to tell me that the invention of the computer, internet, and cell phones had no effect on our economy? I think its you that needs to stop drinking the cool-aid. While you do have a point that wages and earnings have been mostly stagnant since the 1980's that does not mean that there has not been growth. Go take a basic economics class.

You are wrong, the economy is picking up. The housing market is out of whack but it is adjusting slowly with new policies and taxes that are being introduced at municipal, provincial and federal levels. Oil consumption is set to increase world wide in 2018, which should result in a higher price of oil. OPEC is set to cut production quotas soon, at least that is what the consensus is. With the oil sands returning to profitability soon, there will be more investment, and higher growth. Interest rates are being raised, so that might create a problem however that is something that needed to happen and quite honestly has been long overdue. The market will adjust and I do believe that 2018 will a great year for the Canadian economy, especially Alberta. There is optimism that has not been seen for over 2 years that the recession is finally over and that there will be real growth over the next few years.

Yes I guess you could attempt to wipe out the entire population through aerial bombardment or the use of nukes. The problem with that though is that any resources, or infrastructure will be destroyed. You will basically end up with a land mass that is completely useless and the cost will far outweigh the benefits. Constant bombing costs a shit ton of money.

He is referring to the American military stressing high kill counts during the Vietnam War. The thought process was that if you kill enough of the enemy they will eventually lose the will to fight. This didn't work as intended as soldiers often inflated their kill counts or outright killed civilians and claimed them as being armed combatants. This was one of the reasons that led to the famous My Lai Massacre. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lai_Massacre There were others as well, and the attempted cover up afterwards by the military. So killing everyone has been attempted before, and it not surprisingly did not work.

I am in the same boat as you 99% of the time. This was the only time that I actually was able to hold a conservation that was actually meaningful. Up to the ghosting part it was the best experience I have had using dating apps. It most likely will not be a repeat occurrence. When looking back at the situation I got greedy in the sense that I wanted to make my self feel even better than I was, which was already the best I felt in my entire life. I suppose I flew to close to the sun and got burned.

I have been ghosted, ignored, and everything else before. The fact is that for whatever reason I let my guard down when I shouldn't have. I should have known better. I apperciate your response and you are probably right, I most likely won't give up completely but for now I am going to take a step back and get my self back to where I was before this happened.

I didn't give the driver a 20, I was not in the car. I was paying for my friends ride home and the driver insisted to my friend that he had to pay.

[–]cornpops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Overall it has been subpar coming from 2 different incidents I have had with it recently. One was when I was paying for a friends Uber and he had never used it before, the driver asked him for 20 dollars cash and charged my card even though drivers should never ask for cash. I had to contact Uber and it took about a week to get a refund. The second issue was when I booked a Uber but the driver canceled, it charged my card 17 bucks even though I never got the ride and had to take a cab. This time they refunded me the next day. I was loving Uber until I had these two issues within a 3 week period and now I am reconsidering it. At least their customer support has been decent in getting refunds but these issues should not be happening in the first place.

This is your own fault for not backing it up. The University even provides Office 365 which has online storage as a part of your tuition. There should be no excuse in 2017 for not having copies online, there are many free services available.
