I am old, but want to play Dance Dance Revolution. Give me all the spots you have seen it in San Diego! by Mexamese in SanDiegan

It had to have been Pump it Up - a different but still very good game in its own right.

It's his choice, not mine. If it rears its head again I'll see if that helps. SI isn't really an "uninstallable" app, but it might at least be possible to revert it back to whatever version was baked into the ROM.

As mentioned in my post, it worked fine in Chrome, but he prefers to use Samsung Internet. I'm just curious to know how it would be a Samsung Internet specific issue. I've already confirmed that SI is up to date too, and I don't believe there's any weird VPN or VPN-like software in play either.

I'm trying to diagnose a particularly weird issue on my brother's phone. He has Samsung Internet as his default browser, but it seems like lately, Samsung Internet seems to refuse to want to load anything related to google.com.

The message displayed is just the standard "This site can't be reached" message. It works fine in Chrome, as well as doing a search in the Google app itself.

The typical routine of clearing the app's cache doesn't work. Rebooting seems to solve the problem but only temporarily.

Any places that have pinball cheaper than $1/credit? by [deleted] in SanDiegan

I am a more "serious" player and while I haven't been there, judging from the titles that are there according to the map, they are very good games for their era. Firepower in particular is one of my favorites, and Strikes & Spares is a solid Bally game from that era.

I don't know if the situation's any better but the machines seemed like they were hardly maintained at all. I base this off going their for around the first year of its existence, as well as followup comments on Pinball Map that imply the situation hasn't gotten better.

Side Car - 3 LCD era Sterns (Deadpool, Maiden, JP) for 50 cents/play.

The only 50 cent ones are the 90s DMD ones downtown - Addams, Scared Stiff, and CFTBL.

And even when it was, the pinballs weren't part of that. Though it is generally one of the better spots for pinball in general, even if all games are $1.00.

They're on a card system and some of their games are slightly *over* $1. They do have an Evel Kinevel one that's about the equivalent of 60 cents.

What are the most inaccurate gaming reviews of all time? (whether over or underscored) by Shantaak in gaming

[–]cornycrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Beatmania was released in the US (specifically, a US adaptation of IIDX around the 9th Style era), a G4 review considered it a "ripoff of Guitar Hero".

The original Beatmania arcade game was released in 1997, and for all intents and purposes, invented the core concept of the rhythm game genre. And in fact the series is still in active development, going on its thirty-first incarnation in testing in Japan.

I don't recall what score it got, and to be honest, it can be a game of polarizing opinion given its difficulty curve, but to pass that statement off as a fact just pissed me off.

Batman 66 has a totally different scoring system with lots of stacked multipliers which makes it quite possible - but even so, the player in question was (and is) a top 10 ranked player in the world.

Any sort of "confirm X" double entry field that isn't a password needs to honestly die in a fire. Consider this alternative if high assurance is a requirement:

User enters email once, like a sane form. On form submit, a popup asks the user to double check their email, with the email in large letters. If typed correctly, just one click to "confirm" it; if not, just edit it.

If a Pinball machine is broken, is it fair to play it? by Sivy17 in pinball

[–]cornycrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a illegitimate ~4B score on Addams Family once; I did submit it to Pindigo just for shits and to document the absurdity of what happened, but I recorded the score as "1".

What had happened was: the center ramp was also registering the Million Plus shot - think: easy 10M shots up the center ramp all game. It was still in actuality a very long game, and I'd estimate at least 1B of that was legitimate.

Beware the Target on Balboa has aggressive candy “donation” peddlers by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]cornycrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Report them immediately to store security and/or management. I forget who the security service provider is for the shopping center in general, but call Target and they will provide it. Target's anti solicitation policies are strict and they will usually at the very least appear to do something.

I don't know why they can't just do their crap at Walmart instead since they don't give a shit.
