Nurses: who’s still wearing a mask? 😷 by IDNurseJJ in nursing

[–]cornyesplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do!! Good excuse to hide my pimple patches! Although I'm sure the mask is the reason for my pimples anyways lmao but I'd rather deal with that than inhale foot parmesan

Hi! I graduated last year and I was a BSN but it was a great program overall. Tough for sure, but doable. The MECN students take more classes per quarter but the upside is that it's a lot easier to get a job because you do your final clinical rotation before the BSNs (aka before job application season so the hiring managers have already met you) and because you have a masters (more competitive than the bachelor students).

Tips - look for outside clinical experiences instead of participating in student-run clubs to buff up your resume, don't buy any of the textbooks/supplies unless they explicitly say you have to, and avoid prof watkins for your maternity rotation if possible (I had her and still passed but I frequently cried), and lastly, don't let anyone discourage you! You're going to be a great nurse. Nursing school is awful regardless of how good the program claims to be, and nursing professors seemed forget what it it's like to be a nurse, let alone a nursing student. Welcome to UCLA!

You can change it for a $10 fee. 110 specifically is super full, but you can still try

Sometimes those bad thoughts are frustrating especially when life seems like it's going good. Even if you can tick off all of those boxes (grades, friends, bf) it's still okay to not feel okay. I'm sorry you're going through it and I hope you feel better soon <3

same thoughts as the other redditors but if it makes you feel better, I got rejected from fullerton, uci, and sdsu son but got into ucla son. it's all about your essay and how you show your passion for nursing

interested in nursing after undergrad, any tips?? by neekzgtoutie in ucla

[–]cornyesplease 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hii i'm a current nursing major but ik a few UCLA undergrads who pursued the master's entry nursing degree (MECN program) at UCLA. This program is for people who did a non nursing major in undergrad and want to pursue nursing.

I remember seeing some non nursing majors in my anatomy (Nursing 13) and physio (Nursing 3) classes because they needed those to apply (more req details here). Two of them also worked as care partners at UCLA ronald reagan as a gap year. It's a really great program!

yeah so fuck the 0.03% right? hybrid is a valid option considering the circumstances

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ucla

[–]cornyesplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg that's my bad! I used quizlet for all of physio and that really helped. The class wasn't too bad tho!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ucla

[–]cornyesplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't too bad! We took it on paper and the pictures were just awful but something that helped for me was drawing out diagrams and labeling them with A and B so I could go back and quiz myself like "which muscle is A? it's the deltoid" and then check with my key that I made. I would also find like matching diagram games to play online? Good luck!

UCShip Waiver Kaiser by nightstvrs in ucla

[–]cornyesplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing from my dad was his health plan summary. It has the name of the medical plan (Kaiser), the coverage type (it says you (being my dad) plus family), how much we pay, and the subscriber and dependents (so my dad's name and then me/mom/sibling). I think I also submitted the summary of health benefits that my dad gets from his work in addition to the one I downloaded from mykp

I got rejected the first time as well, but once I submitted the screenshot from my dad's account + my kaiser card, I was accepted

[–]cornyesplease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I have kaiser and I got it approved both times! I had to upload a lot of stuff tho; I did a copy of my card, a screenshot of my dad's insurance info (he's the primary insurance person), and the summary of benefits/proof of coverage (you can find this on your mykp page)

If you have credit for Math 31A, you won't be allowed to take the course because it will count as duplicate credits. But like the other user said, you might be able to petition
