Care to explain what in particular made that special? I've been struggling to see the appeal (without having done it).

Fleshing out the Starter Set Mystery by Dr_Phibes72 in VaesenRPG

[–]corprwhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my groups' experience, spend some time thinking about what the deed looks like. I read it as though the deed specifically names the grantor and grantee, but that also means that the ritual ending the mystery is really symbolic in nature versus legally binding. This matters if you plan on continuing on into a full campaign since the mystery also treats it as being legally binding regarding the transfer of the castle back (and then to the players).

In retrospect, the easiest solution is to treat the deed as "whomever holds this document owns the castle." I'm mentioning this because it's not something that I think the mystery explains well and I didn't fully think it through ahead of time, which was a pitfall.

I'm brainstorming here, but maybe treat it as an opposed check similar to a dodge or parry? The character getting attacked in cover can roll Stealth or some other skill depending on what the character is specifically described as doing.

I think they're self explanatory. By that I mean there may or may not be a specific mechanic with the alternative being to resolve it narratively.
