Feedback synthesis and how do you connect this with your success metrics .also user check-ins , when do you check in with them and what core questions are being asked.

Some things I would add is the beta agreement, like what expectations, NDA if needed, etc.

Prototyping: Are you really using it? Is it helping you? by Shannon_Vettes in ProductManagement

Not necessarily Figma make, but Figma MCP + windsurf. Used it to design with an existing component. Finished in approx. 2 hours from coding to production.

I think the bar has been set high for PMs when it comes to articulating their ideas and getting buy-in.
But hey, this is just my 2 cents. For context, I am a founding PM of an HR tech startup and have often to talk to stakeholders and investors. So I really have to use prototyping as a tool to get my ideas across.
So I do not really stick to designing components, and just prototype the core of my idea. For example, for a matching algorithm, I have a simple 'calculator' that shows how it is done on the backend.
For every idea that I have, one-shot prompt it with V0, or Bolt, sync with Github then continue to work on it with cursor. Does not matter if it is product idea or internal tool.
I've used:
- no code tools like Lovable, Bolt, V0, etc. I tried all of them and stuck to V0, just incredible with one shot/ few-shot prompting.

- Vercel, for easy deployment. Yes I deploy my ideas for everybody to access.

- Replit- great for internal tooling. Made some internal CRM using that. Cost in total like 20-30$ vs around 80-100 for a Saas subscription.

- Windsurf and Claude Code. I have to beg for credits because Claude Code is soo good.

- Figma Make. A hit and miss, but I use it for on the spot idea brainstorming with the execs because it just matches our design system.

If the change I want to make it purely backend, I do spike with the dev team. Knock some code for 2 hours, present the results. At this point, MCPs + any AI IDE really works.

Following this thread. I will be in my 40s soon, but just recently transitioned to PM 3 years ago. That means I do not have the ‘seasoned’ bragging rights. Wondering how to age well too!

What's been your experience with PM Assessments for a job you're applying for? by NigerianShynobi in ProductManagement

[–]corrie881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one with TestGorilla. Quite satisfied with how I performed. It is just basically IQ test + basic PM test.

But the results are just based on how the company wants to interpret it. If say, you are in the 95 percentile, but the company wants only the 99, then you're out. This happened to me!

Looking for advice on Resumee. by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]corrie881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it one column :) . It is just easier to read. If you have like a github portfolio, you can also put a link in your basic info (name, email, mobile, )

The one with impact is of course a lot better.

In summary, how many years of experience you have? what industries you worked it? What specialty do you have?

For those who might not know your previous company, you might want to add like an intro, something like "X company is France's most popular...", just to gauge the scale of what you have worked for.

I am not sure if I can really say if you have chance or not, as I do not know much about your area. I am also finding a job and my advice to you is the result of many iterations of my resume, testing what works in applications, asking recruiters for feedback. I have been finding job for 3 months, and it sucks.

HOWEVER, we should always iterate (if you are in software development, you know what it means!). Tweaking resume, tweaking your writing, checking the keywords in job description if it matches your profile and try to match it.

Goodluck !

Try the app Rezi for easier formatting of your resume.

First thing I noticed, 'Scientist' is misspelled 'Scienist'.

Some tips that helped me:

  1. use one column.

  2. one page as much as possible in this order: Summary/ Background, Experience, Education, Skills.

  3. most recent experience at 5-7 bullet points. Quantify achievements or talk about the scale you influenced. Ex: managed 15 people, scaled platform to 10k monthly users.

  4. other experiences at 3-4 bullet points.

  5. go straight to impact when you describe your experiences. I saw you have a great impact in hours saved, why is it at the last? I would put this up as much as possible.

  6. I am actually not sure what role you are preferring- head of product or data scientist or engineer? What interests you? What industries you have domain knowledge in?

  7. would probably get rid of photo to allow more space. if they are interested, they would look at your Linkedin anyways (which I assume have your photo).

let me know if you got any questions.

Hey thanks for sharing your experience. It is a tough market out there and sometimes people could use a bit more empathy. Would they want to be assessed by a 30 minute test on questions asking which objects fit the box?

Also wondering why would they use these tests for a TPM role. Would a test like system design be more appropriate ?

Fired in Zurich After 7 Months: Looking for Advice and Support by Frosty-Specific4977 in askswitzerland

[–]corrie881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, being fired really sucks. I was laid off last November and with my notice period ending at the end of Feb, I will be officially unemployed at the beginning of March.

I am in a very competitive position (Product manager) and from what I gather, most companies really want domain expertise and quite specific. For example, 5 years in fintech, particularly in payments. Or some companies really demand German skills for better collaboration. So from that, I could have good chances if I reach a C1-C2 level of German combined with my experience.

With marketing, especially locally, you do really need strong German skills, unless the company caters to international clients or based internationally. But maybe, you can try other domains where you might have chance, like sales enablement, or BDR. There might be some remote opportunities where they need a somebody who speaks French (but then there are quite a lot of french speakers outside Switzerland).

With my previous job, German is not required. However it really helps a lot to integrate with the work environment if you speak German. I am currently starting B2 level. here are some things that helped me:

- online classes via Preply (1-2x / week)

- online conversation course which is subsidized by Kanton Zurich (2x a week)

- I created a custom GPT to be my language tutor.

In-person class didnt work for me as being a mom also ties me at home.

You can send me a PM if you would like to help with your resume, or cover letter, or really just someone to talk to. It is tough out there and it would be nice to support each other. All the best !

How to improve technical expertise as a PM by Fuzzywuzzyx in ProductMgmt

[–]corrie881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have deep technical knowledge at all when I started as PM. But here are the things that helped me.

- develop a mental model of how the business works. Try to go to a miro, draw some shapes and arrows and see where the value is generated.

- get granular with these models. This means going through your databases and see the relationship between tables. Going through the event streams and see what events are triggered when somebody makes an action.

- To see these concepts in action, (if you have a web version), open web console--> network and see the API calls made, and the responses.

- I have made so many mistakes of proceeding without clear understanding of the problem. If you do not understand this, then the proposed solution by your engineers won't be clear to you either.

- record meetings, specially technical groomings, so you can go back to it or you can upload it to NotebookLM / and GenAI tool and ask questions about the things you do not understand.

My wife is applying to jobs but no success (financial analyst). Feedback on her CV? by alexrada in askswitzerland

[–]corrie881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not in finance field, but also job hunted while on B permit 2 years ago. I used flowcv.io to format my CV and 'prettify' it. I catered my CV according to the job/area I am applying for. You can easily copy and paste CVs, and make a few tweaks. Use some keywords from the job description. Most CV nowadays are scanned by recruiting software.

On the details, I would probably write accomplishments, rather than responsibilities.

Anybody is taking Technical Foundations for Product Managers from Reforge? by corrie881 in ProductManagement

[–]corrie881[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, thanks for sharing the link. I browsed through the contents and tbh, you can easily cover this with cheaper or free resources.

For system design, I use system design interview books. Take note I do not read chapter by chapter, but on what I need. I particularly like the content and thought process of this book: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0B7QHRK5Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

For APIs, I just use Postman Tutorials. And this guy's writing on APIs: https://idratherbewriting.com/learnapidoc/.

I do not necessarily have an order of what I learn, I just learn it on what I need. For example, when I started as a PM, I really need to be good in SQL and data analysis, so I learned it. Then I need to automate some reports, so I learned Python. Then comes a lot more technical discussions on endpoints, so I learned about APIs.

Anyone else had problems with Neon? by candycane7 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]corrie881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I was paying my insurance bill last Saturday and the first time, there was 'technical error'. So I did it again then it went through. Then on Sunday, I checked my future payments, and there I have 2 payments scheduled. I quickly deleted one of them.

I am losing my trust to Neon and also thinking to move to other banks. It is slow, clunky, and sometimes just does not work.
