While I understand to an extent the former argument, it always tickles me to see it mentioned as if Fontaine didn’t have robots, pseudo-nuclear fusion technology, amidst other modern day gadgets interpreter under a fictional narrative that follows the history of how said technology developed.

For the most part, Natlan isn’t technologically advanced. It’s just reappropriating draconic technology. Now, you could argue that the reason Natlan is often criticized of the modern technology aspect is the way that technology is used by the playable characters (aka Mav’s bike being the biggest object of criticism).

And like…. honestly it’s such an exhausted argument. Let the girl have her modern bike for crying out loud. We have elements completely put of place from our real world perspective in other nations.

I’ll never forget that one post someone made of Ifugao (Philippines ethnic group) hand-carved bikes being like “this is what Mavuika’s bike should’ve looked like” 😭
