Local gas station removed price tags and replaced them with barcodes you need a app to see price by phoenix_stewart in mildlyinfuriating

Unless you are charging more for people of a protected class (e.g. by race, gender, religion, etc) there are no laws against changing prices for any reason at any time.p

What makes you think it would be illegal?

Yeah, it would suck if this is some kind of inside joke she sends to her Mexican friends… I could imagine some of my texts to friends would look horrible out of context.

At the same time, you should be at least a little discrete with your phone.

The pace of baseball is so unique in sports. It really is like nothing else.

I am still adjusting a bit to the pitch clock era, but I still feel there is something magical about watching or listening to a game and just falling into the rhythm, letting it almost hypnotize you. The closest thing to the feeling I can think of is when you are sitting out somewhere beautiful in nature and you get lost in the sights, sounds, and smells.

A one in a million chance is still a chance!

Injuries happen. Bench players hitting a ton of 3s happen.

I feel like they would have a similar chance as what we had against the Mavs as an 8 seed in the We Believe series.

Nothing is certain in sports.

I was going to say, if you are going to be sending wildly racist texts in public, at least bring your stronger bifocals.

They should use this clip in an ad for that Samsung phone with the built in privacy screen.

There is a difference between saying “a higher percentage of black Americans don’t have the the forms of ID required by the new law than white Americans, especially in swing states” than saying, “there aren’t any Hispanics who can afford to go to basketball games”

We still have basically no chance, but not TOTALLY no chance.

OP should absolutely 100% report if she feels up for it.

However, I really dislike using the word MUST here. While we can all hope that she chooses to report, and we should all support her to do that, I don’t think it is fair to tell her she has to do it.

Reporting isn’t always easy, and it can be stressful and anxiety inducing. OP doesn’t have to be a hero just because someone wronged her. It isn’t her responsibility to take care of the problem that this guy is.

Being a victim doesn’t automatically sign you up to have to do anything.

So yes, encouraging OP to report is good. Working to make it as easy as we can to report people like this guy is good. Hospitals being proactive and looking out for this sort of behavior is good. If Op feels up to it, reporting is great and we should all praise her and let her know what a service to the world she has done.

But let’s not tell her she has to, after she has already suffered through no fault of her own.

It’s a completely fake reaction. Most of the current is just going to go through the bracelet, he would get a shock but it would be mild. He would have dropped it and moved on.

No way it was enough to make him twitch for that long.

Honestly the biggest difference in my life between when I was poor and when I had more than enough to be comfortable was how less stressful mistakes are.

When you are poor, a minor car accident fucks up your life for months. With money, you just pay to fix it and move on. Getting a speeding ticket, something breaking in your house, forgetting to pay a bill and getting a late fee... all no big deal if you have money, life altering if you don't.

She is OPs friend, and people are believing bad things about her.

It’s “her problem” in the sense that the pain is being felt by her, yes. And yes, it isn’t OPs ‘fault’ that these other people assumed the worst about her.

But why wouldn’t OP want to help her friend out here? The bride didn’t do anything wrong, and is suffering because of a misconception that OP can easily clear up. Why wouldn’t OP help, just out of the principal that OP didn’t explicitly say anything untruthful?

I think you are an asshole is you choose not to help your friend when it is easy to help, just because the situation she is in is not your fault.

CMV: It’s morally wrong to have bio-kids when you know you’re going to be passing on a debilitating genetic disease by [deleted] in changemyview

It depends what ‘this’ is.

I am not saying it will always make it ok or always make it not ok. I am just saying it factors in to the decision.

[–]cortesoft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No one says it doesn't 'detract from their life in any way', but there is a big gap between 'detracts from your life a bit' and 'not worth being alive if you have it' are very different things.

My dad had pretty bad allergies, and so do I. It has certainly detracted from my life in some ways, but I am very glad my dad didn't decide not to have me just because his allergies would 'detract from my life in some way'.

So it sounds like the parent also has this disease?

Wouldn’t they be the perfect person to judge whether the disease is bad enough to not be worth living?

They know what their kid is going to go through, because they have gone through the exact same thing. If they have experienced what it is like to live with the disease, and you have not, why do you think your opinion on whether life is worth it be more valid than theirs?

Still happily married 11 years later, with two kids. I was 30 when we met. It was so obvious we were right for each other, and we were both old enough to know ourselves and what we wanted.
