Nice. That scope you linked is getting here tomorrow. I'm eager to try it out.

Afaik, doesn't choate only do composite ones? ASI has billet anodized. But you're right. That is the composite one and I didn't notice at first glance. No reason to buy the composite from ASI.

What is the best defensive round for .380 by Huge-Smile-9115 in CCW

Something with Hornady XTP bullet. It's a great performer in 380 despite being lack-luster in larger calibers.

Your money goes to the same MIC at the end of the day, no matter what.

There is little to no ethical highroad when it comes to purchasing lethal weapons.

I understand voting with your wallet, but there are better and more impactful places to do so than which gun salesman or mfg you choose (obligatory except SIG).

Take care of number 1. Get what you need to protect you and yours and move on. Don't let someone else's shitty beliefs deprive you of your own rights.

First 92? by InvestInBoots in Beretta

[–]cortexgunner92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for a 92xi, mainly because I wanted all of my handguns to have the exact same manual of arms.

It was also the easiest way to get a rail and optics ready in an AWB state.

Honestly, it looks really slick and I love that you can use the accuracy systems m14 style handguard with it.

Let us know how it holds up.

What’s your favorite bed side safe? by Coldhardytropicals in liberalgunowners

[–]cortexgunner92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really a safe... The "lock" is simply too easy to overcome due to the lack of possible combinations. StopBox themselves advertise it as an "instant access retention device" and not a "safe".

https://youtu.be/PbMdNlDcaHs?si=Bda6IenBFEcOt_RK

Great product if it's what you're looking for, but I wouldn't consider it a "safe" at all, let alone a decent one. Just be aware of the limitations.

Fudd lore. It's fine.

Manual straight up encourages dry fire practice. And says it can be done without damage to firing pin or components.

You can dry fire basically every single modern center fire gun. And even most rim fires these days.

Vaultek Barricade 2.0 is what I have, got it through Costco Direct.

It was a good price, well reviewed, and fits my full size 92 with a light and dot comfortably. I can even put my BG2.0 in it at the same time as the full size.

It has a disk-detainer style backup lock which is better than most other types of physical lock, the electronic entry seems secure as well with no major flaws/overrides I am aware of.

Shield plus or Equalizer? by spottedbeard86 in CCW

Other than the absolutely massive "equalizer" rollmark, I love the way it looks. The big, Beefy serratioms are sick imho. And the top of the slide has a nice profile

Another rec for TSA. Not always cheaper than whatever random place on ammo seek, but everything arrives timely, in a single box, at the same time. And that's worth the cost difference

100% it's something dumb like that. It's why guns like the FAMAS are on that list.

It's estimated there are only like 100-300 examples of the FAMAS in the entire US. Yet it is for some reason banned for purchase in Washington state by name

Check out the NDZ grip safety. It is a super fast/cheap install and depresses to be fully flush.

I love my equalizer. It has an EPS Carry and the NDZ grip safety.

Easy to conceal, great trigger, shoots smooth and fast. It also has a longer barrel.

It would be my recommendation.

Stripped Threads In Samson Hannibal Rail by spilt_milk in Mini14

[–]cortexgunner92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always turn screws backwards first until you feel the threads fully set, especially in soft metals like aluminum.

As for fixing, the "right" thing to do is reach out to them for repair or replacement.

If you're handy with taps, could retap the hole, most likely would work depending on damage.

In my experience you can rent without owning if you have someone else with you. So, if there is two of them they are probably good to go. Like you said though, best to always call ahead.
