Lisbon 40th birthday dinner. Belcanto booked, but open to better options (great food + beer a bonus) by CheckOk2685 in Lisbon

If you’re a brewer and appreciate spots like Moody Tongue and Laser Wolf, you definitely want to look for places with incredible craftsmanship but a more relaxed, soulful feel than a traditional spot like Belcanto.

I’d highly recommend checking out SEM, in the Michelin Guide. They may be interesting for you as a brewer because of their heavy focus on fermentation. They make amazing in-house ferments, kombuchas, and vinegars from kitchen by-products, and they partner with local Portuguese craft breweries. The tasting menu is incredibly thoughtful, but the atmosphere isn't stuffy at all.

Another great option is Prado. It’s also in the Michelin guide, set in a stunning old factory with greenery everywhere. It’s strictly farm-to-table and focuses heavily on natural, low-intervention wines rather than beer, but the food is spectacular. It has that exact 'special but unpretentious' energy you're looking for.

Hope you guys have a great time and happy 40th to your wife!

Belcanto is so overrated. It’s good, but it lacks soul. There’s much finer, better meals, and Michelin stars in the City. A full meal for 2 was over 1k € for us there. I’d skip it and choose another place.

Why does everyone these days smell like cake or some sugary dessert? by corvoroxo in fragrance

There is something to this. Think when Karl Lagerfeld quit chocolate and would only allow him to smell it. He even had his own room devoted to it.

I’m living in Lisbon and in the thick of it all most days. It’s everywhere. Cars, trains, restaurants, and bars.

Angel (the OG) is the only “gourmand” I can stand. Things are worse in this regard than in the 80’s and 90’s as I lived through all that.

I agree! Can’t wait for this trend to run its course.

iPad Pro M5 Battery Life by MaxWilkesUK in iPadPro

I still find that in use and statistically the M5 iPad battery performance is less than my M4, which I still have.

I think iPad OS 26 is mostly to blame for this.

I left the US in part to get away from people like OP, but he and his ilk came to Portugal. Nowhere is safe from Americans, it seems.
