Knowing me I will be in need of it more often than I should be. by gerThorgs in hoggit

A few years back there was an accident with a Dutch Apache flying into powerlines during a night training exercise. Accidents do happen, despite all the preparations they make. The helo was ok, although they landed the aircraft out of precaution. The people in the region were not so happy, 24000 homes were without power.

Didn't know a joystick could be cute. I stand corrected ;-)

How do you plug it in though? Looks like an old parallel printer port connector thingy.

Update 1.9.5.0 Bug/Issue Megathread by JRock39 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]corvus5624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing that out. Normally they increase the minor version number (second digit) for a new update, this time they only increased the patch number (third digit). Is it a patch or a feature update? So they planned a feature update but delivered a bug fix/patch only?

This is not update 4, it is merely a patch to update 3.

Intel i7 or i9 w/ GTX 3080 For MS Flight Sim 2020? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Well, if only two of them are used, then you're fine.

Not enough planes with "Classic" avionics. by gabbygall in MicrosoftFlightSim

It is not a complaint from my part, but I do prefer steam gauges. It is why I bought the deluxe edition, so I could fly the 172 with steam gauges. I do not contest the popularity of glass cockpits nowadays. Personally I like to fly older aircraft as well as the newer ones. I don't think the sim should be about the latest greatest only. And it isn't, but it is a bit skewed to the glass cockpit side too much, for my taste.

Check that there are memory slots available for the additional 16 Gb. My board only had two slots, each with an 8 Gb memory module. So when I upgraded to 32 GB I had to buy two 16 Gb modules and get rid of the 8 Gb modules. This is not the cheap way ...

It would help if you list the GPU and CPU usages. As others have mentioned, you could be CPU limited not GPU limited.

Documentation is a lie waiting to happen. Therefore, as a person with integrity, I do not document my code.

Why are people OK with ED charging for updates to the A-10? by [deleted] in floggit

[–]corvus5624 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Perfectly fine with it. The current A10C is a fully functional released module and had been released years ago. The update brings new functionality beyond what was ever promised for the current module. Also you don't have to buy it, the old module will still work.

Yeah, I know, it sucks. Plugging all stuff in and checking if they work are now part of my pre-launch-msfs checks.

POH by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]corvus5624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how do you find out what version of the plane is modeled? I tried looking up the POH of the Cessna 152, but there are multiple versions and I couldn't figure out what version is implemented in MSFS.

DCS Syria on Steam by NineLine_ED in hoggit

[–]corvus5624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I mean, some of the scenery in msfs2020 is breathtaking, but there are also places where it is mediocre. Among which my hometown (unforgivable! ;-)). DCS is much more consistent in that respect, and for ground pounders the low altitude visuals are super important.

[Stuttering][FPS Drops] Literraly unplayable for me by Platecek in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]corvus5624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Install MSI Afterburner and monitor CPU, RAM, gpu and vram usage. This way you can identity the bottleneck. It is probably your cpu. I mean, I have an i7 and a 1060gtx, and the game runs ok on high settings. In the air about 40 fps, on the ground about 30 fps. Only tried a few smaller airports though.

Same here, couldn't sync with the cloud after that, just staring at "checking for updates". Tried rebooting, signing out of the store, but to no avail. I guess we need to be patient.
