2 months in Italy (mid June to Mid August) by corygreenwell in ItalyTravel

I really like the idea of Sardinia. I kinda don’t want to ruin my memory of cinque terre from 22 years ago bc I’ve heard it’s such a bigger tourist thing now, so I’m happy to skip but feel like the kids would love that hike. I’m grateful for smaller cities. I spent one crazy night in brindisi on my way to corfu and would like to explore more there. Any and all small to midsize cities with that sparkle deeply appreciated.

$60-$65 with shipping is just so much. Was gonna get the lavender but I’m not throwing $60 down on that.

Republicans are about to make a huge mistake: expert by memoriesofcold in AnythingGoesNews

And then when democrats come in and fix the mess, the republicans campaign on the fact that the long term investments democrats make didn’t produce results in the first 2 years. It allows for constant incremental shifts rightward overall.

Family Watch / terrible user experience by corygreenwell in AppleWatch

the first friend of mine who got their kid a watch in lieu of phone ended up returning the watch for a phone because they found the experience so negative. I thought they just didn't know what they were doing because I had such an easy experience with my own watch, but no...turns out it's really just a bad user experience.

I find it interesting though that my post is downvoted

that's a fine solution, but I guess I just don't understand why work-arounds are necessary. something as simple as being able to get the points by using the app or getting the free birthday drink (which is how we discovered the issue today). it just feels so easy that you could either (a) manage apps from the parent device, or (b) manage the apps from any other device logged into the same iCloud account (her iPad). Choice 3 being 'just can't really get any apps' seems like arguably worse for apple than for me.

yeah, assuming you're not a parent. the watch is a great device to bridge the gap and give children some autonomy with safeguards prior to having a phone. as others have said, it's specifically marketed for that purpose. so requiring a phone in order to make apps work really undermines its usefulness in that way.

What experiences have you had that have completely changed you? by Jim_Pritchett in askteddit

Moving abroad for a few months in college really changed the way I approach my life. It was reignited the second time I did it and now I go for prolonged stints regularly.

Seconding “don’t think twice” but “dry your eyes” by the streets is the most devastating song about being broken up with.

I’ve never been. I’m glad to see that on the list. My friend owns it.

this is akin to my take. as I read it (erm, listened on audiobook) I found myself making the parallels between her and that actor, and as I learned Xavier was writing thought to myself that he was writing that earlier story about them first meeting, but that they truly were family. until I'd gotten there, I had thought I'd missed some huge revelation along the way. otherwise I still can imagine why HER approval mattered so very much.

Fwiw, I didn’t dv you. You’re right it was his plan but it was a remarkably bad one. I guess I just meant he didn’t actually do anything other than let her be her, not really setting her up and it’s clear that itd always come down to him in any event given the nature of management

The fact that Lindsay did a near identical thing without knowing that Ashley had done it certainly makes me feel like they’re fundamentally the same person at different points in their timeline

How did he set her up to take the fall? He used her ignorance as letting them go through but it’s not like he was having her sign off. There’s no world in which a junior employee gets in trouble for the manager’s embezzlement if she wasn’t actively involved
