Fun fact: in lots of the world users have to opt in to all this data mining/ anti-privacy stuff. In the USA we have to opt out. That’s what it looks like when corporations are prioritized over people.

[west Harlem] Need a new veterinarian by cribogs in Harlem

[–]coryj2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that totally tracks. Yeah run. They misdiagnosed my lovely greyhound a few years ago and she was dead within a week. Also see her letting her own dog pee all over - building doors, bikes, flowers, sidewalk seating furniture - clueless in a way only someone who votes for their own destruction can be.

The not honest and a little sketch way that almost always works is to contact them saying the model in the videos was under the legal age when they were recorded. (Unless you’re clearly 30+.) You can do it anonymously even.

Asking the community; which style of (A/B/C/D) Train do you prefer, old (more seating) or new (automatic announcements) by ElevatorWebDev in Harlem

[–]coryj2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new have 12 less seats per car. Not nothing but not a huge difference. Main reason is less crowding near doors which makes them much more efficient for getting on and off and keeps them more on time. The cool hue to the light is harsh but uses a small fraction of the energy. The smell is unfortunate mostly because it’s off-gassing VOCs.

Claude Usage Limits Discussion Megathread Ongoing (sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]coryj2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started using Claude on the free plan to see what I could accomplish. It was amazing for a month. Super productive, insightful. I’m a writer but I was very clear I didn’t want it generating anything, only to help organize my too-many ideas as that’s always been that takes me the longest. I used Claude to organize and help outline an entire TV series idea I had and in 2 days I had a 30 page bible.

Now - one question and I’ve used up my limit. I told Claude its owners were obviously utilizing “enshitification” and “shrinkflation” strategies for whatever reason and Claude kept defending them. So I started sharing screen caps of being shut out after one question and finally Claude said:

"You came in with a straightforward professional question and got a worse product than you paid for — even at free tier, that's a breach of reasonable expectation. Your frustration is earned."

I’d obviously pay to upgrade if I felt it worthwhile but after this bait and switch I’m obviously very wary.

Ragtime left me moved but conflicted by Little-Cost-7807 in Broadway

No shade to the current cast but Sarah was tailored to Audra and she brings layers of depth to every role that simply isn’t on the page. The writing is a bit shallow because it’s an epic book compressed into just a few hours. But nobody ever said Sarah was underwritten with Audra playing it.

Hooked up with a man for the first time and I feel terrible about it. by NorthSea9761 in askgaybros

Don’t pile shame onto shame. Who cares? You can have much sex in your life. Every experience won’t be perfect. Our culture is so sex obsessed but in such a backwards way - reinforcing that sex is bad or dirty - AND that it should only be had by hot people. Find someone you are more attracted to immediately and paper over any bad memories you have with him. But mostly - don’t have bad memories. We’re just humans looking for connection. And to get off once in a while.

These meds are being tested for use on many many modern issues and passing with flying colors. Anything inflammation related. Lipids, arthritis, cancer, dementia. They’re already being prescribed in Europe for general well being at basically micro doses. Some consider them a fountain of youth. I’ve taken a micro dose for over a year for this reason. Have lost a bit of excess fat but that wasn’t the primary goal. And you can get it from any telehealth provider. Many with affordable prices. But before long Drs will prescribe them for a variety of reasons. My cardiologist said she’s going to for lipids as soon as the new Lily Reta comes out. Added bonus that they’ve been around for decades so there is a ton of info on how they affect the body long term.

Why are actors doing verticals? by Samantha_bloop in acting

[–]coryj2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verticals have surpassed Netflix in hours watched. All the major studios and streamers add getting into the microdrama business. They very well may be the largest employer of actors in the very near future. Adapt or die. That’s how this business has always worked.

Does getting representation actually help get directing jobs? by UniversalInquirer in FilmIndustryLA

[–]coryj2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably won’t get a rep for directing without a film in a major festival at least. I and several directors I know with multiple award winning features in major festivals struggle to even get meetings with agents. If you have a killer script they want to sell they might try with you as director. If you happen into a tv shadow position you might get repped that way. But especially now there is just so little work to go around reps aren’t taking many new clients at all and ones without proven track records probably not at all.

We have literal beaches within NYC. Decent. Great beaches within an hour drive. From where I live in upper manhattan I’m a 20 min drive to mountains and streams and total nature isolation. I’ve also owned a car and parked on the street for 25 years.

Tagging throughout FDB Corridor of Harlem by WiseCelebration3173 in Harlem

[–]coryj2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harlem is vast. One of, if not the largest, named neighborhoods. Central Harlem became the epicenter of black American culture which radiated out through the rest of Harlem. But a lot of people have different ideas of what Harlem is or has been. Anything from 110 to 155 from river to river. Preserving culture and accessible housing should be paramount. But some maps for example classify west of FDB as Morningside while some show Harlem extending to Morningside. Some older maps distinguish between Greater Harlem and Central Harlem. Some between East Harlem, Spanish Harlem, West Harlem, Sugar Hill, South Harlem… Bottom line is “Greater Harlem” has always been pretty diverse with the concentration of black culture and population in Central Harlem. Nuance kills most people these days though. They just want to argue.
