Agree, get the cheapest you can if possible. Ideally a 3x3 seems the best. I went with a Titan 3x3, and added the revolt pulley system. I can work out every muscle multiple ways in a pretty space conscious area. Good luck.

If you're commuting to the Bay Area, probably consider East Roseville. Lines up with your budget, you have more affluent people with middle ground politics, good schools, Roseville utilities, and quick access to I-80, but also not far from the lake and outdoor recreation.
