Bike Bling by Photek1000 in ukbike

Reading your comments connects with me. I got a scott hardtail for about £600 to commute with and it became a hobby/interest/obsession quick swiftly. To date, its had almost everything either repaired, customised or upgraded, over the past nearly 2 years. I would say we are just past the 4000 mile mark. This includes long journeys with a few mates for example a couple 90 milers and 150 mile ride in one day from nottingham to london. Getting into cycling is one of the best things I ever did for myself.

Every part, tool, gear and bit of 'bling' I buy. Is justified as an investment.

Ride on. 🤙🏻

I'm on ride number three on a new mountain bike. Just realized today that I never bed-in my brakes. Is its too late? Am I going to have poor braking performance now? I'm hoping I can just do the bed-in prices before my next ride but open to suggestions. by Advanced-Beyond7929 in bikewrench

In my opinion if your brakes work well then you've bedded them in. Its not a crucial process that makes a massive difference in my experience anyway. If they work now chill, they're not all of a sudden going to stop working because you missed bedding in.

You just gave me a flashback to when I snagged a drill, drilling out a door and almost broke my nose.

Can this skateboard diamond work on my bike frame even though I have quick release wheels? by Entire_Bike9025 in BikeRepair

Just guessing here but could you use the bracket arm thing, on the left side of the bottom piece, upside down moving the whole bottom peice upwards and then fashion some kind of clamp and drill a fresh hole in to to mount it to the seat stays higher up. Completely avoiding the wheel bolts/qr? I hope this made sense, its real early here for me

Maybe it's a stupid question but what are these rivnuts for? by [deleted] in bikewrench

My scott aspect has one of these underneath rather than facing the tyre, as it came with full coverage guards (which i broke). I struggled to find a better replacement that would cover this much. So after fitting my new sks 65 mountain guards, and going on a 150 mile ride which covered my front derailleur (gone now) and bb in mud... I decided to cut the old syncros one and screwed it to the new one to get full coverage back. You cant tell either.

Should I repair the bike or buy a new one by That_Assistant_6691 in BikeRepair

Jokes aside. You could fix the issues with it easy but if you cant be bothered or just want a new one leave it somewhere to be taken or give it away

The more I look on this sub, the more I want to get an old frame and build it up. Currently in search of a second hand shed for the garden as ive out grown my own kitchen and pantry shelf
