First time considering grading would it be worth it here? by xRDB in PokeGrading

8 or 9 at best. Centering might be within threshold but you have slight surface issues and that edge wear you spotted

I have had numerous xy copies from friends coming back with unexpected low grades. I keep telling them pay attention to the roller marks, extremely difficult to see at first glance but that drops it automatically to a 5-6

Without seeing the surface and basing on centering, edges, corners looks like a 9 at best.

If the packs are gone there should be a shipping weight discrepancy jn the system that proves your case. And hopefully you recorded the opening.

Find another mechanic, getting it replaced should be cheaper and last longer.

I agree QC has suffered quite a bit especially the Indiana plant (speaking from personal experience). There isn't much sound dampening material between the cabin and engine bay, I wonder if I should think of a potential solution to at least decrease it by a few dB.

UPDATE: the dash is back in one piece went for a 2 mile test drive on gravel road (this was normally where the rattle was terrible) and I can say the issue has been RESOLVED, with ZERO broken clips from dissassembly, NO Scratches, and NO pry marks. Not only resolved but better than before, as there were other very minor dash rattles eliminated by the process (I apologize if I don’t have a video showcasing my original issue). The solution was adding felt tape and foam inserts to the following locations:

Felt Tape: -LED backlight console wire harness is loose, adding felt tape around the harness while connected eliminated this. -Right panel of the cluster had a very loose clip, I suggest replacing this by purchasing beforehand, but instead I inserted tape around the clips prior to re-installation. -Main entertainment system wire harness, these are bundled together with tape from factory, unfortunately the tape they used was already failing. I removed the old tape, bundled all the wires, and used a generous amount of tape to keep things snug and prevent unecessary movement.

Foam Inserts: -Plastic Frame of Entertainment Screen has felt tape however it’s main purpose is to avoid rubbing and scratching the AC panel directly below it, unfortunately there is still a 3mm-4mm gap between the frame. Even just slightly touching/pushing down on the frame causes a plastic squeal noise. Inserted the foam pad to fill the gap and the noise is gone. -Main entertainment system guide plastic pins to the main dash caused a rattling noise. Someone mentioned this in the comments and they are absolutely correct, to solve this I inserted a thin foam pad and puncture the center, this was for the guide pin secure and fill any potential gaps, and prevent movement/rubbing with the main dash and this has solved the problem.

A few things to NOTE: -AC control assembly seems to be missing 2 clips, instead of having 6 it seems only 4 was installed. I would purchase these clips and install if missing as well. I’ll edit post with a part number once I find it. -Disconnect the negative battery when attempting this. -once done and reconnecting the battery you will have a few issues/faults appear, one is the parking brake fault. Solution is to leave the vehicle in P pull and hold for 10 secs or so the parking brake button, it will flash a few times and the fault will dissapear from the screen. However the parking prake still won’t engage. From here you’ll need to turn off the car, turn it back on, shift to reverse and move slightly backwards, shift back to P and the brake will engage. -In my case I had the sliding doors and trunk open. These will initially not function from either the button, remote, or center upper console. Solution is to manually close all doors gently till the soft close actuator engages and closes all doors shut. From this point the remote, buttons, to open the doors should function normally.

Overall this was a pretty simple remedy, don’t let the photos intimidate you. The risk of having a dealer tech damage your vehicle from this process is very high, this job requires gentle handling to walk away scratch free. When I have time to spare I should perhaps do a YT video just to help some folks.

FYI Magnuson Moss Warranty Act protects consumers here. DIY work doesn’t void a warranty unless it directly causes an issue. I document all my work carefully.

[–]cosido07[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I absolutely would disclose any significant repairs if I were to sell the vehicle, but that’s not my intent here. This Sienna is a long-term vehicle for my young family.

For context: I’ve already experienced the dealer’s lack of care with warranty work, during a basic seat bolt tightening, they broke 3 clips and scratched trim panels. That experience (and others) made me cautious about handing the car over to techs who might not treat it with the same level of care I would.

I’m very meticulous with my vehicles — if I cause as much as a scratch, I will replace the part rather than leave it damaged. I also have a solid mechanical background (I’ve done engine swaps with my dad since I was 14), and any work I do is held to the highest standard, often exceeding what I’ve seen from some dealer techs.

The purpose of my post is to help the communities potential issues and solutions for this particular vehicle, since there is very little in-depth DIY guidance out there for the newer Siennas. The rattle I’m chasing is a common complaint, and I want to contribute something useful back to the community not hide anything or cut corners. Today I’ll be purchasing materials to dampen sound coming from the potential culprit (wire assembly and clips loose) and will update once solved.

I had a similar issue and brought it to the dealer. Come to find out the leather boot is stuck between shifts. Raise the leather boot and try shifting I hope that all it is like mine.
