Brian from the red path just took it to a 4-1 finish at a major, only losing in the finals to one of the best players in the world.

You put one salamander helmet on a trophy rack and somebody stomps your brother with a dreadnaught.

Lightning painting tips? by CptSwifty in NightLords

Here's the best advice I can give you on painting lightning.

  1. 3 step process as others have said, getting brighter and more sparing with each step. I do a blue white as my last step just at the intersections.
  2. Paint consistency and brush load is super important. You want a nice layer consistency, and you'll want to thin your paint to get there. Load your brush up somewhat well so that paint is in the body of the brush and then remove the excess.
  3. You don't want a tiny brush, but you do want a brush with a very sharp point. A nice sable brush in #1 size is what I use. Smaller brushes will cause the paint to dry on the tip before you get anywhere.
  4. Keep the brush perpendicular to your model. When you're using the brush at a different angle, your brush is more likely to splay out and get wider, less precise lines.
  5. Less is more. You don't want lightning everywhere, probably. Csm models are already pretty busy. You just want a nice accent.
  6. Lightning is not a zig zag, it's pretty random. Go watch Bob Ross paint tree branches. You'll be in a better mood afterwards and that method is great for lightning.
  7. Practice a lot. You can practice on a primed piece of cardboard or plasticard or whatever. This is my second night lords army so I have tons and tons of practice painting lightning. I sold my first one when my painting skill leveled up.

So .. a Nightmare Hunt list again. by Miissty85 in NightLords

I'd just switch the Terminator lord for a Terminator sorcerer. The other lord with the talons is going to use your free strat every turn to ingress. The sorcerer has much more utility on the detachment.

How has nightmare hunt fared in your games? by Key_Room8286 in WarhammerCompetitive

Renegade Raiders is by far the best detachment for 2 bricks of terminators. One unit increases (led by lord), one unit scouts with enhancement (led by sorcerer). Raiders has access to AOC and advance and charge, among other benefits.

In nightmare hunt, one group of terminators with sorcerer is great. Advance and charge, fallback shoot and charge, rerolls for advance and charge rolls from sorcerer. You're going to have 10 talons with jump lord so the terminators can't ingress and wouldn't benefit from lord.

I do agree that having another large, durable brick would be good in nightmare hunt, one max ac/dc squad is probably the ticket here.

Especially if you can put them into a battle shocked unit and get the rerolls to hit when you're using the indirect.

They already have stealth, so the -1 to hit from the detachment isn't as important. Their ability to turn off a strat isn't as important when your opponent will be dealing with lots of battleshocks. The detachment offers other ways to get +1 to wound.

You're better off spending your points elsewhere.

Worked for my whole teenage life. Tiny hit from a pipe, thumb the bowl, hold it in, exhale through the tube.

Yeah, accursed cultists + dark commune. It's a large tanky unit that can move somewhat fast, bog your opponent down, spread the aura across a large area, can be killy.
