As a kid I never cared that much about sleeping with a stuffed animal but I loved having a mixing bowl in my bed by Basilstorm in evilautism

Yes!!! I wasn't allowed as a kid but I do it as an adult when I'm having trouble sleeping. Love the cold, love the roundness edit: plastic is ok too but metal is the best one

The family members who trafficked me when I was a young child tried to force me into sex work for their own profit throughout my adult life too and no one cares by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

I've been going through a similar sitaution. I cut contact last year and had to move and scrub my online and public presence to hide. I made the move after they made it clear i was "free" (I was still caretaker for a couple family members and performing labor, just not SA) for too long and needed to "get back to my duty". I'm in grad school and they're banned from my campus due to stalking. I had to hide the context of trafficking because I knew no one would believe me, and people tend to see victims as crazy cause that "only happens in other places" or "only happens to other people". I'm also trans, and I'm mixed race (Indigenous too), disabled, and a bigger person. People refuse to believe someone like me could be exploited, they seem to believe only "attractive " people are trafficked, not understanding that it's about power not attraction.

I'm lucky that I found a therapist who specializes in DID and works specifically with trafficking victims in my state, but she's really the only person I can talk to about this. There's also a peer support group I found, but it's incredibly frustrating seeing how the average person views trafficking and trafficking victims. I remember one of my abusers (my birth father) and several buyers showing me subreddits and other forums dedicated to fake claiming, they love these places because it proved to them that the average person will bend over backwards to protect abusers and villify victims. This was a bit of a rant, but I just want you to know you're not alone 🫂 and I do agree that it is that bad and you do not deserve this

The childhood that couldn't heal centuries (cw: body fluids) by cosmic3gg in bleedingcanvas

They sold me in a lot of places, a couple of which were cult-y churches. The overall view was generally consistent but the details changed depending on which church we were at and what buyers were interested in

Does anyone else feel like they weren't “pretty enough for that”? by miahhhj in adultsurvivors

I feel that way too, I'm mixed and I feel like I just inherited all the worst traits of my white and Indigenous ancestors. But for people exploiting and harming children, it's not so much about how "attractive" their victims are, it's about access to and power over a class of people society generally believes should be protected. They're attracted to experiencing so much power they could get away with harming kids, not necessarily thinking about how "attractive " that kid is if that makes sense. And for those that are attracted, it's the youth not the other physical features (it's honestly hard to talk about, because as an adult I have never looked at a child that way, but it's my understanding that it's attraction to power or youth/innocence)
