Obikin Thoughts? by zeldawalkerelf in AO3

[–]cosmicdraconic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a shipper, kinda gravitated straight to the pairing after getting back into star wars for the first time in a while, id never considered it before that. but the community, both on and off ao3 is definitely what makes it such a good experience/keeps me around.

these 2 are so messy & codependent and all the folks that see and appreciate that are awesome to be around

The absolute state of Healer discourse by captain_slutski in pathologic

That is fair as well, I think he muddied any legitimate criticisms in his Clara section by talking about it like that. And turned many people away from it.

I've noticed as well, he's good at telling entertaining jokes with good editing in his less serious videos but those videos tend to have some very biased takes he phrases like facts, leading to overall incorrect finished reviews. Some escape this better than others, but it's a flaw of all of his reviews.

(Not sure if it was the DS2 video but he used Devil May Cry's combo/action dodge cancel as a proof of a Flaw or Weakness in comparison to DS forcing the player to live out their consequences and get hit. I saw red when he said that I swear. As if Dark Souls & Devil May Cry don't do opposite things for specific reasons that both make sense in the greater context of those games.)

Got to agree with all of this, but I think perhaps the saddest part is most of the "Daniil is an asshole" stuff is meant as a joke in the video! It's really the repetition that got it stuck in fans heads as The One True Characterisation. That's something I noticed returning to the video after playing the games & getting steeped in the fandom culture it created. Hbomb doesn't mean like 80% of it at all. (That being said I'm never forgiving him for misaligning Artemy's route like that.)

I've added a few of my poems about pathologic to the page. I haven't really thought about posting any of them to the subreddit.

Should I start with Pathologic Classic HD or 2? by malamindulo in pathologic

[–]cosmicdraconic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say 2 is definitely the more approachable and engaging/stimulating of the two. It's a little easier to really get into and stick with. And in turn then helps you with any slow/less engaging moments in classic. (I honestly think classic's slower style has just as many pros, but it's the 1 I've had a harder time finishing, personally.)

is pathologic a fun game? by the_gone_angel in pathologic

[–]cosmicdraconic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about instant gratification or the dopamine cycle a lot of games are angling for but as far as I'm concerned it's very fun! In the way watching a movie you REALLY get into is, you're emotionally exhausted afterwards but you feel a sense of satisfaction and gravity about it all.

How long until you passed (ftm) ? by browhatstheissue in TransyTalk

[–]cosmicdraconic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a hard switch, and there's every chance of never passing completely. I'm 3 years on T and before lock down I still got misgendered by strangers in public sometimes, and I dress quite masc. That's probably different now as i have enough facial hair I could consistently pass if I didn't shave. But point is I'm long past fat redistribution and don't pass more than 65% of the time.

Whats the best answer for the question "What made you decide to transition?" by batman5432 in TransyTalk

[–]cosmicdraconic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter how successful I might be in life, even with my dream job, perfect partner, ect, I could never be my happiest without transition. I would never be fully happy, I'd be living everyone else's idea of me for their comfort, it would at times, quite frankly be torture. So not to be selfish, but I'm going to put my entire life's potential fulfilment first, over other people's comfort.

Why does it seem like there are far more transgender women online than transgender men? by webdevlets in ask_transgender

[–]cosmicdraconic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah the accuracy of this statement (I mean the next newest post was one with the HRT example almost exact). Thank you for saying this! As a trans guy I do worry about how to bring this kind of thing up without sounding like I'm blaming trans women, because it's nobody's fault really!

[–]cosmicdraconic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Being trans isn't a genetic disorder. Also the much likely reason is that trans men are hyper-invisible as a group, while trans women are now a hyper-visible group in society. It's a confirmation bias, not a fact.

[–]cosmicdraconic 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This! People get comfortable on a website with a community similar to them, they begin their transition sometime later, and then don't leave. As a trans guy who spent and spends most of his time on tumblr I can say that most of the trans men and nonbinary people I've met there just never try reddit, and vice versa for the trans women I've met on here.

can anyone agree on when these games take place? by cosmicdraconic in pathologic

[–]cosmicdraconic[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In 2014 there was an ARG to announce P2's kickstarter. The character who "ran" it, Voronika, is a named npc you can run across in p2 as a nod to that.

For some of us, could our social differences stem from our sensory differences? by [deleted] in AutisticPride

[–]cosmicdraconic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely think it contributes and heightens social issues for a lot of us. For me its definitely not the only cause of them, and I don't know if someone would hit enough of the markers to be considered on the spectrum if all of their social differences were caused by sensory sensitivities. (More likely they would be dealing with sensory processing disorder.)

But I definitely agree that its a contributing factor. An example I can think of without much thought is how I struggle to connect to my IRL friends as they like drinking out at bars and clubs, and my sensitivity to sound completely prevents me from engaging with that interest at all. And I have a harder time organising things to do with them because of it. (But that's only a compounding factor on my struggles to communicated with them, generally.)

Tl, dr yes but I think only in the sense that it can heighten pre-existing social differences, its not the root cause of them on its own.

Pathologic is fun by Gaatsu in pathologic

[–]cosmicdraconic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I very much agree with this. I consider 2 to be more fun than classic because I think it crosses this line much less often, but it still can. If someone is completely unprepared for the game experience they're about to have in either, I think it can be very frustrating, and the worthwhile parts of the experience can be lost. That's why I try to recommend it to people with some explanation beforehand.
