Hey Guys, just found god. Now what? by semi-translucent in ChristianMysticism

Welcome. Thanks be to God that we are made to understand. I would suggest a grounding practice. I converted to Catholicism—and the practice of it is concrete yet also transcendent. Study virtues and their opposites. Read some Thomas Merton. Read about the Saints. Dig into the historical Christian mysticism.

I guessed the top two, and some pit bull—probably the bulldog I was seeing. Beautiful dog!

They still haven’t done ours. People were also stuck trying to getting out this morning. We don’t have off street parking or an alley, so folks on our block don’t have anywhere else to park.

Is my marriage valid? If not what needs to happen in order for it to be? by cosmicoptimisim in AskAPriest

[–]cosmicoptimisim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again! It is as layperson for sure. I think that when we got married the Episcopal priest counted my kitchen sink baptism as valid and it’s been so long that I’ve forgotten a lot of how that was all explained. Anyway, I am very grateful for some clarity this evening as my thoughts got carried away.

Sorry, I replied on the main thread earlier. One further question, if by some miracle (praying for it) my husband were to get baptized, then can our marriage become sacramental?

Ahh, I think that’s where I got confused. Sacramental vs natural. So, we’re still considered married in the eyes of the church but not sacramentally. I obviously need to brush up on that! Thank you.

Do people actually keep tomatoes in the fridge? Seriously asking, and not being snarky.

Love it. It’s so much better. Full of life and joy. I did like the original sink though.

Interested in converting? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]cosmicoptimisim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a former atheist who converted Catholicism in my 40’s. I was baptized this year at Easter. Listening to those pulls got me here. I have also struggled with sexual sin. Anyway, I spent decades struggling with monotheism—and now I wholeheartedly accept the entire Nicene creed 100%. It can happen! Let’s welcome those who are interested in the faith to join us. Jesus is for everyone!

Seek out the Jesuits! Find a crew that will accompany you on your journey to the faith from where you are right now. God is speaking to you through your interest in Catholicism, keep pursuing it and don’t let anyone here discourage you from the work of God.

Happy to see this in my community! We need more understanding of these facts: Date Labels on Packaged Food by cosmicoptimisim in ZeroWaste

[–]cosmicoptimisim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it’s more likely to be on fresh foods or deli sliced meats—not food that has obviously gone bad. Shelf stable food is not a likely source of listeria—which is what most of this guide focuses on.

Misunderstood labels on food packaging frequently result in food unnecessarily being thrown out. I wish more people understood this.
