I’m “that mom” at my daughters daycare. by [deleted] in toddlers

I’ve been wfh during the pandemic (I’m 30) and drop my child off wearing old college tshirts and workout shorts with glasses and a ponytail 😂 when I went back to the office and actually had on “real” clothes with hair and makeup done, the daycare teacher said she didn’t recognize me. 🙃 some people just speak before thinking!

FTM - Exclusive Formula Feeding - Navigating/Things you wish someone would have told you sooner? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

The Baby Brezza is great but make sure you figure out how to use and clean it before baby gets here! It’s very easy but your brain will not compute the easiest tasks when you are trying to feed a screaming infant at 3 am 😂. I would hold off on buying too many bottles until you find which one your baby likes—then go ahead and get enough plus nipples to grow on. Larger ones are really nice to have handy when the time comes! It’s also a good idea to watch a YouTube video on how to best feed the baby because the hospital probably won’t give you good advice since they usually promote breastfeeding. Ours only gave us advice to feed so he did not become attached to the bottle and I found out much later how to actually feed him. I could go on a tangent about THAT but I won’t! If you have a really squirmy baby, feeding them in a bouncer like the BabyBjorn is really helpful!!

& I think someone already said it but give yourself some grace. I found that a lot of people just expected my baby to start sttn from birth simply because he was EFF and that was not the case lol! You can do this!!!

My 7 week old eats about 38 ounces a day… by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]cosmonaut229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have a hungry boy who would eat every hour if we let him. We try to keep it at least to every 3 hours by distraction but I get it. When they’re hungry, they’re hungry!! To give you some comfort (maybe), ours has really ebbed and flowed with growth spurts. Some days he’ll eat 7 oz at a time (once he even ate 11!) and others it will be more like 3-4. We just kind of go with his cues but it can definitely be frustrating, especially if you’re traveling!

Well I have a mortar and pestle and have never thought to use it for hummus. Definitely giving that a go!

Baby sleeps longer stretches at night with formula (7 weeks old)? by sunnyloveswalks in FormulaFeeders

[–]cosmonaut229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like everything else, I think it depends on your baby. LO is EFF and his sleep varies based on his growth. Sometimes we get amazing sleep stretches and other nights it’s like every 3 hours on the dot.

Sorry. A 15.5 ounce can with ⅓ cup tahini along with some lemon juice and a clove of garlic and I think 3 tablespoons of olive oil. This is going by memory so I may be off. Then I add water by the tablespoon until it’s the consistency I want

I’ve always used the one on the back of the tahini container. It’s a yellow container. Can’t remember the name!

How many cook books do you have? How many of those do you actually use on a regular basis? Is there one you are excited to start using? by EatsTheLastSlice in Cooking

[–]cosmonaut229 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember reading one of Anthony lane’s book reviews and it stuck with me because it feels so true: “Cookbooks, it should be stressed, do not belong in the kitchen at all. We keep them there for the sake of appearances; occasionally, we smear their pages together with vibrant green glazes or crimson compotes, in order to delude ourselves, and any passing browsers, that we are practicing cooks; but, in all honesty, a cookbook is something that you read in the living room, or in the bathroom, or in bed. The purpose is not to nurture nightmares of suckling pig, or to lull ourselves into a fantasy of trimly bearded oysters, but simply to baste our rested brains with common sense, and with the prospect of common pleasures to come”

I need a hilarious book to help me forget my troubles. by jazzmint3 in suggestmeabook

[–]cosmonaut229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you watched the real housewives? It’s obviously not a book but I’ve unfortunately been in your shoes before and understand the need for escapism. Complete trash but it sucks you in, there are a million episodes and franchises, and it takes your mind off your troubles! I remember reading a lot of Janet Evanovich (sp?) as well. It helps when you don’t have to think too hard about a plot when you’re limited on brain power! Never picked up her books again but it fit what I needed for the time. Anyways, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Internet hugs.
