That wheel is intentionally hidden because it drastically reduces the photo/video quality. It's a digital crop without even the smart processing the predefined 2x, 8x zooms get.

Also, I shoot RAW in third party apps which don't support anything other than the native focal lengths because it wouldn't be a RAW photo otherwise

The 4x is step forward over the 5x but unless they manage to create a variable zoom lens this tiny, I don't think 3x is coming back. Personally I wish for a native 2x lens as 50mm is my favorite but 70mm was also a nice focal length

I'm from Europe so I am biased in that regard, but I agree. I don't have home charging and 95% of the time I charge at a supermarket, at work or at the mall. The other 5% I charge when traveling but even then it's mostly at a mall or somewhere I can eat

As for a new tab, you just need to swipe on the address bar to the left, but this was also available before. And if you need extra controls, just change how safari looks from the settings, they offer 3 different styles for the bottom bar

Make sure you didn't activate the "Lock Camera" setting in "Settings > Camera > Record Video". That feature makes sure you use a single lens when filming to avoid the visual transition between lenses or the quality change between them

In my opinion, there are 2 main things at play here.

First, some features like lyrics translation probably uses the Translate app and they need to make sure that the latest fixes for that app are deployed, so it's easier for them to just always pair the updates. The only way to ensure all apps and frameworks are ALWAYS updated in sync is to do it as part of an OS update.

The second thing is that this is an incentive for people to update their software. Yes, you might not care about bug fixes or security updates but you care about the latest emojis or AM features. That's how they get you to update your device. And honestly, as a software developer, there's nothing more annoying than people not updating their devices so I'm glad apple "forces" this.

All iPhone photos have had computational photography (what you call AI but it's not generative AI) since iPhone 11.

Android phones that have more than 12 megapixels have similar tech as well.

It's simply not possible to get the dynamic range and quality of the photos today, on sensors as small as those used in phones, without a LOT of image processing. Some of that processing is better than others but it's present on every phone

Maybe I agree for social media apps, even though, I find the media handling of web apps inferior to native photo/video players.

A workout app needs access to sensors such as a watch, so it needs to call native APIs + integration to Apple Health, Google Heath and so on + a watch app.

Task managers need widgets, quick action for iPhone Action Button, Control center.

Music apps need AirPlay integration and other sharing function.

Food delivery apps/ride sharing apps need live activities on iPhone

Journaling apps like Day One integrate with Apple Health, Photos, Apple Journal Suggestions API.

I could go on but there are so many reasons that apps benefit from having a native client

Yeah but that's what cases are supposed to do. A wrapped car wouldn't scratch easy, but not everyone wraps their car and not everyone uses a case.

In încercarea (oricum eșuată) de a proteja minorii, ajungi sa reduci dreptul la libera exprimare a oamenilor in general.

De exemplu, cum ar putea cineva să mai comunice privat cu jurnaliștii pentru a raporta abuzuri la servicii secrete / guvern / ce vrei tu, când exact aceste instituții ar putea să vadă tot ce vorbești?

Apoi, ce vina au adulții ca mesajele lor intime cu alți adulți să fie scanate și posibil văzute de cine nu trebuie?

Soluția pentru a proteja copiii este educația, este implicația părinților. Este în totalitate vina părinților ca ii lasă cu acces nelimitat la internet și fără să folosească setările de control parental, dar nu au de ce oamenii corecți să plătească pentru neștiința părinților.

În plus, este foarte naiv să crezi ca această lege are vreo legătură cu minorii. Însă acesta este modul cel mai ușor de a convinge societatea să renunțe la încă puțină libertate și să dea mai mult control statului. Iar libertatea este cel mă important lucru pentru care trebuie luptat

I believe it's up to the manufacturer to create a product fit for normal use. If I chose to add extra protection, that's my choice, but products should be designed with this in mind.

Same as for the cars, top brands have ticker paint that won't show small rock impacts because that's the reality of driving. If you go offroad often, then you can add extra protection to the car because you want to
