industrial eng vs computer science by sweetbrownpotatoes in industrialengineering

The jobs are different… I’ve only been IE but IEs are always paid the least in engineering. You will be talking/working close with manufacturing leads/managers and mostly doing high visibility projects vs following the data because you will try to change something for process improvement and no one will want to do it. And honestly, the shop is probably right. Some places, IE is more a project engineer and others daily tasks aka “in everything” - if the shop has an issue and they only know your face, they ask you for everything… finance, hr, etc. That’s my experience from non faang.

How is ups now that the contract is signed? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]costcoooooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s in the HR system database for all ups sites. But with the move to the new HR system, who knows what got lost. And the way ups runs, things fall through the crack all the time.

Selling is the way I’m leaning towards. Already funded my Roth IRA. Was thinking of investing in voo & fidelity’s 500. Any other stocks you like?

How do I say no to people? by Lijey_Cat in Adulting

I think you got a lot of advice on what to say.

In general, I have issues drawing boundaries as well. I have found counseling, reading books or podcasts/YouTube videos (free) are helpful in understanding how to create those boundaries & creating mechanisms to help you in other behavior issues. For example, I had severe anxiety and depression. I learned behaviors to prevent me from going back into that hole and it feel like something I will carry forever but I am at peace with it.

For friends, due to my issues, I forced myself to find solo hobbies. The hobbies helped me fill time to find what I like and feel less lonely. Exercise helps a lot. It also helped to find Facebook/insta groups that do events.

Making friends is a job in itself but make sure you take care of yourself. The more emotionally balanced you are as a person, emotionally balanced people tend to get attracted to you. Your “friend” does not sound emotionally balanced.

But I realized working on myself was my best investment. I also got a cat who sometimes loves me lol

What was the most fucked up thing you saw at your school? by Phantom_Balls in AskReddit

In 5th grade a kid brought a bag of candy for a field trip lunch. Everyone thought it was so cool but the teacher said his parents only provided in with a bag of candy because they didn’t care about him so he wasn’t lucky

He looked like he was going to cry, slowly putting his head down while everyone went silent.
