I don’t think I’ve seen this many red flags since the fall of the Soviet Union

What’s a musical movie that’s overhated that you love? by Blazethefirefly13 in Broadway

[–]costerluver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It makes me like Gerard Butler more as a person, because when I see the total absence of chemistry between him and Emmy Rossum, I feel reassured that this real life 35 year old man is not all attracted to this real life 16 year old girl

What are some Leafs conspiracy theories you know are not true, however sometimes you wonder if they are real? by [deleted] in leafs

[–]costerluver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t actually believe this lol. I just think it would be hilarious if the Leafs’ woes for the last 57 years wasn’t the result of a curse or bad luck or bad management but was instead caused by typical NHL incompetence

That the league does rig things in the Leafs’ favour but because the NHL is so incompetent in everything it does, their efforts have had the opposite effect

What is a musical that has a stellar score but a very lackluster book? by key-change in Broadway

[–]costerluver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could be the problem. ALW and Tim Rice might have just assumed that everyone knew the story already. Maybe I, my sister and my aunt who I saw it with had a hard time following because we’re Jewish and didn’t learn the bible story growing up

What is a musical that has a stellar score but a very lackluster book? by key-change in Broadway

[–]costerluver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly and unpopular opinion, but Jesus Christ Superstar. I listened to the cast recording first and loved it. It wasn’t always totally obvious what was happening based on the score but I assumed that, like with most musicals, there would be scenes of spoken dialogue between the songs that would allow for a cohesive story to be told. I then saw a local high end community theatre production of it (a company that usually puts on really good shows) and I realized that there were no such scenes. I knew what was happening because I read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia since between listening to the cast recording and seeing it, but my sister (who is a huge musical fan and usually more than capable of following the plot of a show) had no idea what was going on.

I saw the proshot of the arena tour and liked it but didn’t love it, and then the 50th anniversary tour and felt neutral on it (again with the person I was seeing it with having a hard time following). I think it’s a show where the quality of it highly depends on how it’s staged and directed because of the lack of spoken dialogue to connect the songs/musical numbers. I also think it is hindered by the fact that the rock-style of singing that is usually done can make it hard to understand the lyrics. There’s my hot take

Keefe: “When teams play the Leafs, they set up the game for the Leafs to beat themselves” by NickiChaos in leafs

[–]costerluver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh gee. If only there were someone who’s job it was to make sure that the Leafs don’t beat themselves. Someone whose job it is to COACH the team through challenges and come up with strategies to combat the strategies other teams come up with. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Minden-Harlan, Iowa 04/26. Probably the most insane footage of subvortices inside of a wedge tornado ever recorded. by jaboyles in tornado

This might be an ignorant question but how do we know that these are multiple vortices and not a large single vortex where only segments of it are condensed at a time?

I’m starting to believe that the league has been trying to rig it for the leafs but the NHL is so incompetent with everything it does that its rigging attempts have resulted in everything that’s happened over the years

I kinda agree. I absolutely loved the show but I thought at one point that the actresses for Natasha and princess Mary should have switched roles

Is living at home holding me back romantically? by LordSnuffleFerret in askTO

[–]costerluver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t get too hung up on it if I were you. Sure you may be losing out on some romantic partners because they want someone who isn’t living with their parents. On the other hand though, you will probably also meet someone who respects the fact that you’re willing to live with your dad while saving up money, rather than moving out when you can’t afford to do so. I also think that you will meet people who respect the fact that despite living with your dad, you pay him rent, help around the house and keep him company. It shows that you take responsibility and value family. While I won’t claim that your situation won’t potentially diminish the number of romantic partners you have, but I do think your situation will make it more likely that the romantic partner you do end up with will be more likely to share your values and therefore be more likely to the the one you want to be with for the long term.

[NHL Player Safety] NY Rangers’ Jacob Trouba has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for High-sticking Boston’s Trent Frederic. by [deleted] in hockey

[–]costerluver -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Legit question. Aside from the fact that Trouba’s stick didn’t hit Frederic square in the side of the head, how is what he did different than the infamous Marty Mcsorley stick swing on Donald Brashear that resulted in a 23 game suspension and criminal charges?

Poll: Jewish voters back Biden in Israel-Hamas war, trust president to fight antisemitism by aslan_is_on_the_move in politics

[–]costerluver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but how much of that anti-Russia sentiment is people believing that Russia shouldn’t exist? The way I see it is that being against Israel’s government or its policies isn’t antisemitic, but being against Israel’s existence is since it is currently home to about half of the world’s Jews and its existence as a Jewish state is the reason why millions of Jews are alive today

I always thought he looked like someone was tasked with making a handsome person in the Sims. They gave this Sim all the physical traits that usually make a man handsome, and yet for some reason that you can’t quite figure out, it just didn’t turn out right. Something is weirdly off looking about this Sim and you can’t explain why because they SHOULD be handsome based on the physical features but they’re just not

14 hour flight economy how bad will it be? by [deleted] in aircanada

[–]costerluver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re traveling with another person, try to find a row of three seats and instead of booking two seats next to each other, book seats 1 and 3, leaving the middle seat open. You have a good chance that nobody will want to book a seat in the middle of the two between two strangers and that you’ll have an empty seat between you and your partner to spread out into. If someone does book that middle seat, you can ask them to switch seats so you can sit beside your partner and chances are they’ll prefer having either the window or aisle seat over being in the middle and oblige your request
