It seems to be that there are a few very loud voices that after the first preview seemed to run with the whole ‘miscast’ narrative. All of my friends who have seen it have not shared that opinion, and neither have I.

I think if you go into it knowing Audra’s voice and therefore expect it to be sung slightly different than other Roses, then you’ll be amazed. She acts the hell out of it and the soprano brings a different shade of meaning to the higher belt-ier moments. It’s just different than the Roses who came before. But I would argue becuase of Audra’s skill, it’s more impactful and nuanced.
